I had the transmission light come on like 4 days ago. Well the dealership did a diagnostic for $175 and they said they checked everything as far as the converter and something else i forgot, but that wasnt the problem so they called me back asking to further do checks on it, and they said can they check the valve body i said yes. so they found out that was the problem. so the valve body part, diagnostic, fluid came up to $1120 does that sound reasonable? and wondering would that fix the transmission error for sure?

Hard telling if we don't have the code or know what it was doing..
true they said a lot of codes came up. So i wouldnt know them until i get it tomorrow. but the only error one shop told me was a solenoid problem. forgot the actual wording. but i told the dealership that.

Mine had a bunch of errors at one shop and only one error at another, not stealership, shop. Turned out to be the solenoid. I changed out the solenoid myself and I have no errors. My problems were harsh reverse engagement, 2-3 shift way off- It seemed to slip out of gear and stay out of gear for about two seconds. I also lost fifth gear sometimes. I changed out the transmission filter, the pan gasket, and the solenoid for 330 bucks. I know I would not pay that price to have something as simple as a throttle body replaced, no matter who did it.
see thats what i dont want to happen is they replace the valve body then it turns out to be the solenoid but look, i asked them over and over is it anything else that is wrong with my transmission and they continue to tell me no. so its going to be their fault if something else fails.

I am not giving you legal advice. I am giving you a generalized opinion about what I believe the laws are interpreted as. A verbal contract is null and void unless recorded. Depending on your state, it may be illegal to record conversations without the other person in that conversation that you are speaking to, knows the conversation is being recorded.
In otherwords, I would get it on paper that it is a guarantee.

sounds like they replaced the solenoid pack. A problem item in this trans. It has a shop list of 393.03 plus the labor fluid and taxes. if you include the 175.00 for the diag it might come close to that...labor at 100.00 or so X labor they charged. Might be a little high even for a dealership. If you purchased that sol pack from me it would be 281.60 plus shipping and you would have to get the fluid and the labor.

My experience is that verbal contracts are enforceable. It all depends on who the judge believes, him or you. Written contracts are, of course, more certain.
oh ok mrzee. thanks for the input. I got the car back like 30 minutes ago took it on a test run and no errors came up it shifted the gears properly so hopefully they did fix it. i dont remember the points where the gears supposed to shift like the mph points but their shifting better than when i got the error message.
you mean the valve body NOT THROTTLE BODY.

Ya. Oops. My bad.
so gentlemen i have another question its seems since they changed the valve body my 1-3 gear shifts faster now. my 4 gear switch around 45mph from what i could remember. is that right around where it supposed to shift, and when does the 5th gear shift around what mph? thanks for the input. if there is a chart that shows the shift ratios and what rpm it should be at that would be appreciated thanks a lot.

Ir really depends on your driving habits and how you trained the transmission. There was a writeup not that long ago on how to reset the data in the transmission so it can relearn your driving habits. I am sure someone around here has the transmission gear ratios memorized. I am sure if you google it that you can figure this out fairly easily.

Ok, so how long does it take for your transmission to get used to your driving? Also if they just changed my valve body and changed 8qts of transmission oil, would you STILL suggest me to get a transmission flush.

The transmission notices the first few upshifts and bases itself on those upshifts. If you dont like the result, reset it and try it again. Personally I have never gotten a transmission flush done on any vehicle I have ever owned. I think they charge too much for doing this and the five bucks a quart for the mercon V, you could be looking at easily a two hundred dollar flush. I would buy the fluid myself and change it out after about three months. Also I would get a new filter and clean out the pan. That should get rid of most of the old fluid that was in the transmission.

I believe it is about 200 from the dealer.. That includes a flush and new filter I think..
