Trans questions

I just bought a 97 lsc with 90k. It runs and shifts great, but I want to do the jmod to extend the trans life. I don't want harsh shifts or anything. I'm assuming I need to upgrade the 1-2 piston as well. I found some piston and springs but don't know if they are good because they are aftermarket. I've searched this and all the posts are very old and the Ford part numbers are no longer valid. Can anyone help me in the right direction here? Or links to the parts I need? Thanks guys. Also is the 98 trans that much better than a 97?

Your 97 should have all the newer upgraded pistons. FYI I beat the hell out of my 1993 trans no problems.

was there a big difference in the 98 trans? I see the sticky says 98 only for the jmod

The 98 has a one way diode in it.

Oh ok. I hear that the bonded piston came in later 97. Mine is production date of 2/97 so I'll probably just order the newer style in case while I have the pan down. Thanks
