I was headed to a meeting for work and as I came up the on ramp to the highway I pushed the gas to about 3/4. It down shifted but went know where. It fell on its face. I let out of it and then it seemed to be good. I got off the highway and it was in Overdrive and I went to take off from a stop light and nothing. SO I slid it in to sport shift mode. I manually dropped it in to second and it worked, shifted to third and at first it wouldn't catch so i let up and then it shifted hard in to third but worked. I got to my meeting and when I came out I didn't know what to expect. I put in in O/D and you can feel it shift in to the gear but when you give it gas it nudges a few inches and thats it. It is like having the clutch in on a stick. I can feel it try to engage or catch but it doesn't in any gear I put it in.
Any one ever experience anything like this, or have any ideas? I am thinking the torque converter but nothing seems to be typical with this car.
Second question. I was already planning on selling the car this summer to upgrade to a second gen, what do you think I could get out of a 2001 black LS sport with light grey interior in good shape. 178K on it but other than the trans it runs fine.
Third question. Anyone know any decent trans shops in St. Louis or a reasonable price? I don't have a place to do a trans right now.
