going to start my new job today, picked up the valvebody tue. now comes the fun.
Lincoln Murcury wanted $460
Ford $440
got a shop manual from Helm $140

If you can, give us a "how-to" on this job and what all was involved as far as tools and various PITAs.

hope you have a service manual, dont lose the intermediate clutch spring and seal that will fall out when you drop the valve body. (if you have a 00-02 or an early 03)

You will need some trans assembly lube to hold in place when you put the valve body back up. Fun part is finding where it came from, look at in relation to where it is on top of the valve body when you take it down that will help you pinpoint where it goes.

almost there

I will be done sat. forgot to get the filter. got it now so I will get it out and in sometime sat aftnoon. What the hell do tou mean PITAs

If I can, I'll make a couple of other suggestions. CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!! Then when you think you have everything spotless, clean it again! The tinest piece of lint from your shop rag can hang a valve. A clean re-assembly on an automatic transmission is critical!

There is another good alternative to the assembly lube LincolnTech38 suggests. Use Vasoline. I've used it for many, many years on the trannies I've rebuilt and it's been flawless. It holds and lubes things well and dissolves the instant heat and pressure hit it. (remember...it's PETROLEUM jelly) I use it for everything I assemble where the lube has to dissolve immediately. Good stuff!

spring

found the spring but not the seal. looked everywhere used a flashlight and checked to see if it was stuck somewhere no luck. I cant really tell where it came from, hope i can figure that out. anyone have a picture? the one in my manual sucks!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

I think I might need Glasses. Found the seal so now I no where the New spring goes. The new spring and Seal is one peice so I did not need Vasiline to hold in place. Got everything together now just hve to Torque the bolts down, Fill er up annd as Willie says On the Road Again!
