Got an incredible deal on a 00 ls a couple weeks ago... due to a transmission problem. I was prepared to just completely replace it, but after doin some reading here and there - it would seem that i might make out even better than i anticipated.
Symptoms are delayed forward engagement, and loss of forward engagement at a stop/idle rpm. The problem is non-existent when cold, then as temp increases it will first start slipping(cycling) in and out of engagement while idling then it gets to the point where it will not re-engage until rpms are brought up to 900-1100 at which time it will either engage with a slight jerk or it will soft engage and slip a bit thru 1st and 2nd a little. I've pulled the pan and there's nothing alarming to speak of in the bottom of it.
So.. I've ordered a new separator plate with bonded gaskets, bottom plate gasket, filter and I want to replace the springs in the VB with sonnax parts (the ones that do not require reaming). I am most interested in the "increased pressure main pressure regulator" spring.
I noticed these sonnax springs only seem to come in 5 packs... so i'm hoping maybe somebody has recently done this and kept/wants to sell a set of their spares?
Anyone think i'm barking up the wrong tree or have any advice?
