What size tranny cooler should I get and which brand? Anyone have any good links? Also, where can I get the proper fittings for the tranny cooler? Thanks.
 
The cooler shoul come with the fittings, mountings, and lines. Go with at least 25,000 GVW. Good brands are Tru-Cool, Permacool, Summit, etc.
 
Most likely the cooler will NOT have the correct fittings.

Works well. Good investment for the 4R70W.
 
Using that flair kit requires still running the trans. fluid through the radiator doesn't it? I guess if you run it through the Rad. 1st then the air cooler 2nd its ok. But why not just negate the radiator altogether this will produce lower coolant temps. as you aren't having to cool off the trans. fluid anymore. My .02
 
JP...perfect reply. Serge...trust me.. JP is right on the money. You can also go with a Hayden 28k cooler, or if serious mods/gears are in your future, step up, and get a tru-cool 40k cooler, and by-pass the heat exchanger completely. They even offer a small aux fan to go with it for extreme cooling capabilites.

But knowing you, and what you do with the car, 26k minimum, get the correct fittings, and be done. Simple, effective, and a tranny-saver. I use a hayden, and it has made a killer difference. I dont have a guage, but there is a 50 degree difference between in-flow, and out-flow when measured using an infra-red laser-tech heat sensor.

In temperate climates you could. Bypassing the radiator tank cooler requires you to buy two 'sets' of fittings and use the appropriate female fittings to mate to the transmission lines.
 
Also, dont forget, for all you "winter drivers", it is possible to OVER-COOL your tranny in freezing temps.

That's why I said "in temperate climates". I would NOT bypass the radiator anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon line. :steering
