My Mark has problems with the traction control. Makes a grinding from the rear like a stuck caliper. Check traction control light comes on as well.
Turning off traction control eases grinding somewhat, but still present. Have not had a chance to pull wheels, but will this weekend.
Any checks to make besides brake caliper inspection?
Pulled codes and nothing came up on traction control.
Car was attempted to be towed when I forgot my parking pass the other night. Don't know if it's related, but I started having a rash of problems immediately after the car being lifted.
*Got the trans rebuilt after it lunched first time I drove after towing incident.
*Check engine light is on and pulling code gives me PO 161 (o2 heater circuit Bank 2/sensor2)
Have not had a chance to diagnose anything other than pulling the code.
Thanks for the help.

I heard that noise when the rivets in my pads started digging grooves into my rotors.

Check both sides of the rotor for damage.

So the Mark was towed with its rear on the ground? Keep some money stored for a new trans, ya never know. But the Mark should never, ever be towed with the rear on the ground. It caused my rear seal to go out.

As for the sound at the brakes. I am betting you need new pads and rotors, probably worn down from being towed. Easy to replace though and really not too expensive. Do both sides of course. Most pads come in packs of 4.

But the Mark should never, ever be towed with the rear on the ground. It caused my rear seal to go out.

Alot worse things that rear seal can get blasted.
The rear bushing in the trans gets a beating as well...

the drivetrain was never intended to be "powered thru the wheels backwards", all kinds of stuff is getting turned from the wrong end, backlashes and slack in the drivetrain quickly begin to "kill stuff".

I towed the wrecked 97 I parted for 35 miles with the rear tires rolling... that trans is now in a 98 CE which has been going 20k strong.

the biggest problem with towing a rwd car with the rear tires on the ground is that the pump in the trans, is ran by the torque converter and with the engine off it aint spinning so all your clutches etc are dry, sometimes you can get away with it, but if the trans is even a little weak it could do it in.

as for the traction control/grinding issue, i agree with the others pads and rotors. remember the rear pistons screw in dont press them in, and also check for frozen slide pins, stuck pads. most people blame the calipers when its a much simpler problem
