has anyone made a torque strap for their mark viii? i was thinking of making one and was looking for idea. also, pics would be helpful.

You mean something to hold the engine down from the torque side?
If so just weld up your drivers side motormount solid like I have done.
 
Yes, that is what I mean. Didn't think of that. Is there room to do it while it's still in the car? Haven't been under there in a while.
 
Yes Sir, we just did one 2 weeks ago.

Remove oil filter and cover with a plastic bag and rubber band, then cut two straps from thick steel approx 2 inches wide and 3 inches long, (you have to mildly "shape them" then weld them to each part of the mount with the 3 inch side going vertical. No added vibes or anything, you will never even feel or know it has been solidified.
 
Another question, is it possible to change the mounts without taking the subframe out? I searched a bit and it seems people say you have to lower the frame.
 
Those do look good, the instructions on that site say to just jack up the engine a bit.
