so I'm kind of sick of bringing the Lincoln in to get it touched up every year. every time i look at it there's a chip on the bottom of the door or the rocker panels. is there a good alternative or should i just repaint the whole damn thing

That sucks but thats life man. If you dont park away from everyone its bound to happen. If you live in a apt complex your pretty much f'd. Found that out the hard way with the marquis.

By touching up do you meen re painting the spots or just dabbing it with "touchup"? How much does it cost you every year to have them touch it up?

if the paint is not that bad I would not repaint it unless you are going to spend at least $3500 and even then it will be perfect and you wont want to drive it in fear of a chip

Did they try to mix up the paint and sell it that way? We have better luck with the little $7 touch up bottles we get from ford. Just get the exterior paint code off the door tag and buy the bottle. it works very well, and is much easier to apply than a basecoat\clearcloat the body shop would mix up.

I need to do some touchup work on my car...

I've got no paint on the leading edges of my quarter panels :(

sounds like a poorly done buff job, edges are easy to destroy with a buffer. maybe previous owner, or who ever you bought it from, if it was a dealer, they hire retards to detail.

It looks like the edges have been sandblasted and are now rusty...

I had my car buffed by an experienced painter... he looked at them and laughed, that aint gonna buff out he said lol...

yo kid are you in the illinois area??? looking for a good polish but have noone to trust. i want zero swirls this summer

Take it to a body shop and tell them you want it buffed with absoutely no swirls. 3m makes a swirl mark remover that works great. any good body shop should cary a simular product.
