Torque converter maybe?

When I start my 95 markvlll after sitting for maybe 4 hours or overnite, I put it in drive, it hesitates for about 2 to 3 seconds before taking off. Can anyone tell me what this could be. The car shifts into other gears just fine.

When you say "about 2-3 seconds" it sounds like maybe you haven't actually TIMED it, do that, and let me know your results

Have you checked the fluid level?

right when I bought my 93 it was the same way, the trans fluid level was extremely low, I topped it off and all was well

Need a Mercon 5 flush and go from there.

I'd say low on fluid and or it might be time for a fluid/filter change. Have the J-Mod done and that will open holes to a larger size, allowing functions such as putting it in drive, reverse, 1-2, 2-3 shifting to be much quicker.

If it takes that long to go into drive, something needs to be done now because these transmissions do not like to be neglected.
