I know we already had a thread sort of like this in the town car section, but I wanted to

1) move it to general discussion where it'll get more hits

2) expand the scope of the query.

So, here goes:

a)What are your three favorite/least favorite body styles of the flagship Lincoln of any era? (Pre-81 Continental/any era Town Car)

b)What are your three favorite/least favorite body styles of a non-flagship Lincoln of any era (Mark Series, LS, 82-02 Continental etc)

c)What's your top/bottom three out of all of Lincoln?

Now,

d)What are your three favorite/least favorite body styles of the flagship Cadillac of any era? (Fleetwood/Fleetwood Brougham/Sedan Deville/Deville/DTS..depending on the era)

e)What are your three favorite/least favorite body styles of a non-flagship Cadillac of any era? (Seville, CTS, XLR etc.)

d)What's your top/bottom three out of all of Cadillac?

And Finally,

What are your top/bottom three out of Lincoln and Cadillac combined?

And just for kicks, what's your favorite flavor of ice cream? :)

okay, I'll go first.

First the Lincolns

My three favorite flagship Lincolns are:

1: Mid-Late 70's Continental (especially 77)

2: (Tie, or more honestly, I can't decide between them) 1998-2002 Town Car/ 1980-1984 Town Car (I know, the 1980 was still called Continental)

3: Mid 60's Continental (especially 66)

My three least favorite flagship Lincolns are:

1: 1990-1994 Town Car

2: 1995-1997 Town Car

3: ???

My three favorite non-flagship Lincolns are:

1: Mark V

2: Mark VI

3: Mark IV

Honorable Mention: Mark III and the LS

My three least favorite non-flagship Lincolns are:

1: 1982-1987 Continental

2: 1988-1994 Continental

3: Mark VII

My three favorite Lincolns are:

1: Mid-Late 70's Continental (especially 77)

2: Mark V

3: (Tie..yada yada yada) 1998-2002 Town Car/ 1980-1984 Town Car

My three least favorite Lincolns are:

1: 1990-1994 Town Car

2: 1995-1997 Town Car

3: 1982-1987 Continental

And now the Cadillacs

My three favorite flagship Cadillacs are:

1: (Tie...same as before) 1970 Fleetwood/ 1975-1976 Fleetwood

2: 1980-1988 Fleetwood

3: Late 60's Fleetwood

My three least favorite flagship Cadillacs are:

1: 1996-1999 Deville

2: 2000-2005 Deville

3: 1972 Fleetwood (I think it's the 72, it's the one where there's the big turn light in between the headlights on each side that's almost as big as the headlights themselves.)

My three favorite non-flagship Cadillacs are:

1: Mid 70's Eldorado

2: Mid-Late 60's Eldorado

3: Early 80's Eldorado

Honorable Mention: Every new Cadillac out there including DTS, excluding Deville (especially the Escalade and the XLR)

My three least favorite non-flagship Cadillacs are:

1: Catera

2: The Original Escalade (back when it was just a GMC Yukon with the name Cadillac on it.

3: The small FWD Fleetwood. (It was good looking enough but a small FWD Fleetwood is just WRONG!)

My three favorite Cadillacs are:

1: (Tie) 1970 Fleetwood, 1975-1976 Fleetwood

2: 1980-1988 Fleetwood

3: Mid 70's Eldorado

1: Mid 70's Continental (especially 77)

2: Mark V

3: (Tie) 1970 Fleetwood/ 1975-1976 Fleetwood

My three least favorite of the bunch are:

1: Catera

2: The Original Escalade

3: The Small, FWD Fleetwood

least fav

Favorite linc of all time:

I will make it one of my life missions to at some point before I die to simultaneously be the owner of a late 70's Continental, a Mark V, and a 75-76 Fleetwood.... my favorite of the three I already have, but my least favorite of the three I love so much, that I've just gotta have one! :)

3: 1972 Fleetwood (I think it's the 72, it's the one where there's the big turn light in between the headlights on each side that's almost as big as the headlights themselves.)

I have confirmed that it is in fact, the 1972 that I don't like. The 71 and the 73 are similar, but slightly different, I don't really like either, but I find the 71 and 73 somewhat less odious.

I would also like to add an honorable mention. On my 3 favorite flagship lincolns, I have a tie between the 98-02 TC and the 80-84 TC, well, I'd like to add an honorable mention for a tie between the 03-05 TC and the 88-89 TC. They are cool too.

And I would like to cancel a tie... as much as I really love the 70 Fleetwood, and as much as I realize that it is a better made car in a lot of ways than the 75-76, I just think I like the look of the 75-76 better. So I'm putting the 70 as 2nd place, the 80-92 as 3rd and the late 60's ones as an honorable mention.

I will try to make it simple:

My three favorite flagship Lincolns are:

1: 1980 Continental Town Coupe
2: 1980-1981 Continental Mark VI - 2dr
3: 1977 Continental Mark V

My three least favorite flagship Lincolns are:

1: 1985-1989 Town Car
2: 1984-1992 Mark VII
3: 1982-1987 Continental <---I never like it -hahaha

My three favorite non-flagship Lincolns are:

1: Mark VI

2: Mark V

3: Mark IV

My three least favorite non-flagship Lincolns are:

1: Mark VII

2: 1988-1994 Continental

3: 1982-1987 Continental

My three favorite Lincolns are:

1: 1980-1983 Continental Mark VI

2: 1977 Continental Mark V

Yeah, there's just something awesome about that 75-76! I look forward to the day when I'll be able to have one... I do like the continental better, but oh, to have both!

Both are nice! I liked 1977 Lincoln Continental Town Coupe and 1975-'76 Cadillac Coupe Deville. These both mid-70's cars are awesome. Sadly, these cars are not making like this anymore!:frown:

If It Isn't CONVERTIBLE - why bother?

But then again - I do have a 1970 Coup DeVille Convertible!

. . . but THAT would not effect my choice - huh?

3.1986-1991 Eldorado

I was never too huge of a fan of the Continental after the Town Car became it's own car and the Continental became the mid-size, mid level platform. (I always thought that what we know as the town car should've just continued to be called the continental and what we know as the 82-02 continental should've been called something else.)

That being said, there are a couple of continentals that I do like. I don't like the mid size-front drive architecture on any of them, but I like the looks of some of them. I do really like the looks of the 98-02 Continental as well as it's performance. It is my favorite of the 82-02 Contis. And the front end of the continental from like 88-91 or so reminds me of the 65-67 continental though that's where the similarities end.

I realise that from 82 through 87, the Conti was still RWD, but it was still no longer the flagship or full size, and while I kinda dug the artsy rear end, the front end was nothing to write home about and proprotionately, the car was a mess.

1980 was the only year to use name "continental" for Town Car and Town Coupe. I only wish to keep the name "Continental" for Town Car until now. I do like the name "Continental" very much, its cool name. That is why I do not choose 1981's Town Car, beacuse there is no longer to use "continental".

Note: It was the '73 Cadillac which had the big turn light in between the headlights. On the '71, it was in the bumper, on the '72, it was a thin light in between the headlights.

My favorite Lincolns (of all types):
1. 1995 Town Car
2. 1975-'76 4-door sedan (huge, big engine, pillow-like ride)
3. 1990-'94 Town Car

Least favorite Lincolns (of all types):
1. '90s Mark series (Town Cars are more reliable)
2. '90s Continentals (same reason as above)
3. Late '70s Mark V (anti-smog devices choked the engine; 0-60 mph times were a slow 14 seconds)

My favorite Cadillacs:
1. 1975-'76 Fleetwood Seventy-Five Limousine
2. 1969-'70 Fleetwood Brougham
3. 1969-'70 DeVille
(#1 and #2 are very close... may be a tie; in fact, probably is)

Least favorite Cadillacs:
1. Catera
2. Cimmaron
3. Eldorado (I prefer RWD cars)

Favorite Lincolns (and just for the record, lincoln is the flagship, ford and mercury are the base models, but you should have already known that)

1--98 Mark VIII CE
2--98 Navigator (the start of a hopefully long tradition like the marks)
3--1967 Continental convertible with suicide doors

Least fav's

1--Anything in the 70's
2--"" ""
3--"" ""

As for the best lincolns ever, that I have owned and driven

1996 Town Car. That thing drove like a dream, and the new ones aren't anywhere near close to as good a ride. I had a rental 06 town car a couple months ago and I was severely disappointed that a $47K car didn't ride as good as a 10 year old $7000 car.
