I will be getting my car out of the body shop next week :steering (hopefully) Before I put it in my car was misfiring and running slugishly. So after searching I'm figuring it is my COP's and possibly the VCG. I have a '00 V6 with 50k on it, got it with 38k.
My question is what would be a good tool set to get so I will be able to do the above repairs and more than likely my brakes in the near future? The rusted looking rotors look horrendous :yuck:

For the brakes, NAPA has the circular shaped rear piston tool really cheap, thats where I got mine and aside from a nice sized tool kit I think that would be the only special tool needed for all your troubles so far.

Are there any other tools I would need besides sockets and wrenches? Any special sizes. I remember someone saying that it's a tight area to get to the VCG and the COP's.

COP's require the removal of a couple things(Driver side only), I'm going to have to tackle this on the weekend(3 + 8 misfire), I was unlucky this time and have one on the drivers side. I picked up the 179 piece set last week and it's done me fine, I haven't had to bust out the old hand-me-down set yet. I'm not sure about the VCG I had the shop do that for me.

I think someone recommended ratcheting box-end wrenches (like these or one of these). You should probably go for the bigger sets of wrenches; for some reason, metric assortments always seem to skip the one size I need when I'm working on a car...

IIRC, someone also recommended those "stubby" ratchets and/or fine-tooth ratchets like this. I'm kind of coveting those blue titanium jobbies, myself. :D

I have the

Craftsman 190 pc. Mechanics Tool Set with Easy-To-Read Sockets
Sears item #00936190000 Mfr. model #36190
$159.99

Tools are good, but the box sucks, everything falls all the time. Also, I think I paid about $120 for it at sears few years ago.
