Ok guys so as you guys recall I painted the center console stereo bezel surround from wood to black on my blue '97 to match the black interior. I really didn't like the dull wood around the stereo. I wanted to also do the doors but I never got around to do it.

Now, the reason I am starting this poll is just to see what you would do in my shoes. My entire family agrees that when the time comes, the prairie tan should be the Mark I should sell being that it's the one that I never liked to customize (other than the CE extras on it) so other than it being a road trip Mark, it just sits.

That being said, I'm planning on swapping EVERYTHING on the prairie tan back to base. I have ALL the parts in my shed in their pristine condition & they will be going on the car by end of this week as soon as the weather lets up. All the Collector's Edition trim, shift knob, steering wheel, etc... will be removed.

The question is... Would you guys put the Collector's Edition wood on the black interior in my blue car? Obviously this wood is nicer than the standard wood trim in our cars but would you go with the black & glossy wood combo? It would either be finish my interior wood & paint it black or swap it for the CE wood.

That also means I have to dye my steering wheel black which I saw someone on here do not too long ago.

Your input & vote is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I've got a CE wheel in my 95 with a 97 ebony interior, it needs a polishing. I'm just haveing it rewraped when I get the chance. Looking for pictures now.

What did that Shifter Boot come out of? Want!

I painted all of my wood Black.. was Piano Black high Gloss..but when the sun hit it in the summer it was way too much.. so now its flat black to match

I'd leave the stock stuff in the blue 97 and put the wood trim back around the radio..if you don't like the dull finish of it, try clear coating it to make it shiny..I too never liked that the 2nd gen wood radio bezel was dull unlike the 95/96 bezel which is much more glossy..either that or paint your existing one the color of your car and clear that also to give it a glossy look.

Black interior.

Hello.
I can do for you Steering Wheels like Collector edition, top and bottom.
And Shift Knob, Door panels too, see my work.
I need your Steering Wheels with leather the color black.
I use core part from original Steering Wheel.
I don't change Leather on the Steering Wheel.

Thanks,
Alexander.

Personally, I'd put some wood back in that all black interior. It's just my opinion, but I have never really liked a one-color interior. I like a little two-tone to break the monotonoy. I think the glossy wood trim would look good in the black interior.

I actually have 2 cans of Ford LL blue paint in my shed. Sounds tempting. If I don't like it all I have to do is sand it & paint it again.
:shifty: :D

Hey Alexandre. You forgot who I am? You made my shift knob for me about a year ago for my prairie tan Mark VIII. Unfortunately I do not have a budget right now to have parts made. I would love to have something done by you but I really can't afford it. Sorry.

Hey... I can always try it, if I don't like it I swap back right?

Hi.
I remember you and remember what I did for you.
I was pleased that you liked my work
Thanks,
Alexander.

Remember this is ce wood it has a high gloss finish
Looks much nicer than normal models

its still ugly to me. and it looks so plastic like too. its amazing how they managed to make real wood look so fake. I would rather see a torched stained pine before the wood they use in the mark viiis even the CE editions.

of course this is all my perspective as i know a lot of you like that look. i just feel that the blacked out version or the darker version fits better. and provides a sleeker look too

So after seeing the results it seems ppl want to see that CE wood on the black car. Hey, it's not going on with adhesive right? I think I'm going to go for it this upcoming week. Yesterday was a real mental struggle for me because I really don't want to see the prairie tan go. Truly a mental frustration. I was almost determined to sell my truck for an SUV for my wife & call it a day... but I can't. If I need to use the truck/SUV to haul something or carry a big load, that means my wife has to drive one of the Marks on that given day(s) to work. I'm not afraid of my wife driving, she drives like an ol' lady. I'm scared sh!tless of the office building where she works in. There's a "Social security" & "childrens & families" office on the floor above her office that receives more than 400 visitors p/day. Cars come & go & the ppl that go there are quite interesting. My truck is getting beat up there by the idiots who visit. Let's see what happens. In the end, it's the prairie tan that shares the fate of my former '93. DAMN IT!

If you ditch the tan one youll have an excuse to replace it with a first gen that i know you are missing. so where are the pics fo the ugly wood in the sexy black guts of the car. personally id like to see a nice cherry wood or something. the wood in the CE is just ugly as sin from my perspective.

"Missing" and "first gen" shouldn't be included in the same sentence. :p

Well, after I installed the CE shifter in my black interior I did just what I said I would. I stared into it. I swear I just looked at it. That thing stood out like 2 rhinos having sex in the middle of an intersection!<-- Tell me you didn't have a visual... <--- Tell me you didn't have a visual NOW! lol. Well, anyway, that's how much it stands out. Remember, I also installed a shifter boot in that car so that adds to the confusion. It just doesn't belong there. All my CE trim has been put away for a future Mark.

As for the replacement? Reason I'm selling the car is to buy my wife a 4dr car. Either a Towncar or an Aviator

LMAO! No but really... I do miss my Gen 1 & I've always said it, I WILL OWN ONE AGAIN! Mark my word. I've already been looking at one with super low miles. It's white on blue though. YUK! Hell it gives me a reason to re-do the entire interior if I buy it! :)

it all depends on your taste....me personally i dont think the wood looks good...id keep the leather stuff on there looks much sportier.

I wouldnt minding having a blue interior. is there pics of it. I promise i wont snake it.

Don't have any pics of it yet!... I shouldn't be talking to you anyway.... It's your damn fault I'm lookin at 1st Gens again for showing up with your damn 1st Gen to my house. Seeing it there made me think; "Damn this car belongs in this driveway!" I don't have the budget to buy another car yet I'm lookin. Only thing that may turn me away is another gen 2 I'm lookin to buy for parts.
