Get em quick if you want em because they're on closeout. I just ordered 4 for mine. I don't need them yet, but I will before the end of the summer I'm sure. :shifty:  :D

The 255/45/17 size is 3/4" wider than the stock 235/50/17, and only .7" smaller in circumference. (that's the measurement around the outside of the circle) What does that add up to? About 7 more revolutions per mile than the stock size. Not enough to make any real difference.

You might want to check the ratings and user comments before you jump--there might be a reason they're on closeout. ;) FWIW, they came in 16th out of 21 in the Tire Rack's rankings, with their lowest scores coming in the deep snow and ice traction categories.

I noticed that, however, in that size there are some pretty cool deals on other brands. I just hate how much they charge to ship them. Oh well, can't complain I guess if the prices are good.

I just used tirerack for the my Mark LT. They shipped direct to my local recommended installer with guaranteed install costs. Everything went well, no issues. I saved around $70.00 bucks total. I will use them again for the LS.

They're Ultra High Performance All Season tires. Any time you see Ultra High Performance on a tire, that means it won't do so hot in the snow.

Btw, I ordered them yesterday around 11:30, and they got here this morning. They only had to come from DE to VA, but still, that's pretty quick. Now I have to figure out where to store them... didn't put much thought into that when I bought 'em... :shifty:

And they're on closeout because BFG is discontinuing them.

I love mine. Sure, the snow performance leaves something to be desired, but I still made it home in a raging snowstorm last winter with 5" of slippery slush. Heavy rain is no problem at all for these. The sidewalls are super-stiff, a must for our heavy cars. They are discontinuing that tread, but there is a new g-force tire out to replace it and its just as good.

These are the stock tire type that the Marauder uses, except on 18" rims.

These tires have very good performance, and I have yet to hear a peep from them from normal wear, unlike just about every tire I have run on the LS for the past 7 years. You should hear my LS right now with Falkens on it. They are making so much noise, it sounds like the wheel bearings are shot on all 4 corners. That aside, these tires will hold the LS in turns very well, and the traction in a straight line is also very good. Some Marauder owners have experienced middle tread accelerated wear on the rears, which increasing the rear inflation to 38-40 psi seems to cure, and some have never seen the problem. It is NOT from burnouts, it is from the tire bowing outward in the center of the traction area at high speed sustained driving. Increasing inflation seems counter-intuitive as a cure, but is is known to work, and was even recommended by an engineer at BF Goodrich in a forum style info area on their website.

I have 90K+ miles on the Marauder and I may be enjoying my 5th set of these tires (and that includes not using them in the winter, while running a dedicated set of snows on 16" rims instead) so long tread life is not to be expected with these. However, many people have gotten 30K out of their original Marauder's tires. The chief reason for such frequent replacements for me on my car has been inside edge tread wear on fronts, due to faulty factory specs for the alignment (negative toe angle, tires pointing away from each other up front, by a lot) and middle tread wear on the rears, somewhat dampened by the inflation changes, but not completely absent. That and, as my wife's daily driver, I tend to replace the tires early rather than later. I just bought a set of 4 of these in the marauder front tire size, 235/55-18, I believe, in March, for $73 per tire.

Would I put them on my LS? probably, but maybe not in this wide size. They sure would look nice in a 17" tire though at 255mm wide. :D

The Bridgestones I run pulled a 6.6 in the snow and 7 in the ice (compared to a 4.1 and 4.4 for the BFGs, which are among the worst of the lot, according to the Tire Rack rankings), which isn't bad for UHP tires. I don't particularly care how they do in the snow (that's why God invented the '91 F150 4x4), but there are some who do.

Those tires are a smokin' hot deal, but not necessarily if you need to run them in the ice and snow...

I forgot to add that almost nobody runs their marauders in the snow with these tires on! Great advice and above all, they can do it if needed to, but it's unwise to rely on them for a full winter's worth of snow traction duty. Plus, being that fat, they make it even harder to get the tread down through the snow, which has the effect of floating the tires through the snow. My LS is already white-knuckles enough with 4 snows, I would not attempt New Hampshire winter driving with a set of these on.

This is part of the reason I had my eye on these. The Marauder I test drove before I bought the LS had these on it, and they were excellent. They did make a little tread noise, but it was acceptable to me, and I have very high standards when it comes to tread noise.

And it doesn't snow enough to matter where I live.

Have you decided to use the tires yet or are you going to continue to store them? They still have that deal going....4 tires for $312.00 isn't bad!

I want to purchase 2 of these but just bought two new Falkens last year that are currently up front. Is there any risk involved with running the stock size falkens with these? Oh and about how much does it cost to have them mounted? I've always bought the tires at the shop so it's been one price.

Call your tire shop and ask them about the mounting. They all charge different rates.

I don't see why it would be a problem to run the Falkens up front and these in the back. Just remember that the handling might not be as well balanced because the tires may not grip the road the same way as the Falkens do.

I work about 5 miles from TireRack. If anyone is lucky enough to be in South Bend, IN you can get your tires and rims installed right there. Obviously no shipping charges. If you ask nicely they might even let you take a quick spin around their track. :D

True; I got one price from Big-O tires and another from Firestone. IIRC, Big-O (who did the Avons on my '04) charged me ~$110 including taxes, etc. You can look on the Tire Rack's Web site and find one of their "recommended installers." (You could have had them drop-shipped to a preferred installer if you hadn't already received them.)

You can have unpredictable results during emergency maneuvers thanks to the differing grip characteristics, but that's the same risk you'd have with the same make and model tires replaced at different times. Quite frankly, when the fecal matter hits the rotating oscillator, most "drivers" are just along for the ride, so it probably wouldn't even matter then...

Thanks for saying it better than I did. :D

Has anyone tried Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on your LS. im kinda interested in these along with the Good year Eagle f1 All season, and Ultra Grip GW3's. Any comments on any of them?

The Michelins will wear out too fast to make them worth the money, and they make a lot of tread noise. Don't know much about the goodyears.

thanks, I just cant believe that factory put 220 dollar treads on these babies. that never happens

I have the Michelins. They came on the Miglia wheels I picked up. Haven't had the car on any kinda of highway jaunt since I put the wheels on, so I can't say how the noise is just yet.
