Hey guys, I am actually looking to buy a new set of tires for my mark. I'm running 225/60 now. I'm wanting a little wider tire but all 4 the same size. What size and type tire does everyone run on their marks? I don't want em too wide and have rubbing issues. Thanks:D

You can run 255/50/16 all around. Traction depends on tire design more than width though. That's why I run 225/60/16 HTR Z II's, they are the lightest tire I have came across and have a thread wear rating of 220 (sticky).

255 50 16's are from what I found the widest you can put on the stock rim.

I put Falkens on my 94 and 95 Good Value tire ... Yokohamas have been suggested by some members as a great buy for all seasons and come at a good price.

i went from toyo proxes to perelli p4's on my stockers and couldnt BELIEVE how much better the perellis were. The toyo's produced the most smoke tho:D

Not all manufactures are the same. When got the car there were some off brand tires on the back. I put BFGs on about month ago and they are much wider but both were 225/60s.

Are you looking to just fill up the wheelwell more or have the car handle better? Depending on what's on the car now 255/50s may actually handle worse.

Years ago I put 255/16's on a car, and it did handle worse, they also were a tight squeeze on to a 7" wide rim.

I run 255/50/17's up front, they are the perfect size for our cars, but you will need to run a spacer up front (7/16" is enough). Because the price was right, the back has 255/55/17's, they are a little taller, but give the back end a slight lift for the raked look.

Short and/or skinny tires just look stupid.

I found with my lowered 98 I had to raise the car some so the 255's would clear the body on the rear. Never triied that size up front. Stock height no problem. I thought the stock wheels are to narrow for 255's they fit but look to bulge out. 245 is what I run now. THey don't hit at any ride height.

Your tires hitting is in reference to the second number of the tire size not being taken into consideration correctly. Ex) 255-60-16 is way too tall. The car comes w/ a 225 60 16 so as you raise the first number (width) you want to lessen the second number (height,--in ratio to the width), ex. 225-60-16 to 245-55-16 to 255-50-16 .. 265-45-16 but those are just examples.

I agree with not running wider than a 245 on a 7" wheel but that varies on tire brand since tire brands run different in the same 'stated' size.

I stress against falkens, cheap tire that looks good but I've seen 3 sets split in the sidewall either partially or completely around the tire. Not something I'd trust crusing at a good clip at all.

When you're looking for treadwear you'll prob want something around a 300. Less is softer, wears much faster. More is harder, wears much slower but doesn't generally grip good in heavy rain.

I have 245-50/16's and have no problems with rubbing. Tracks and corners better, go for sticky (low treadwear numbers). Speed rating should match original or better, and I personally go for at least AA temp ratings.

If you can find a 245/55/16 (they were few and far between when I looked,) that will come closest to maintaining the same height as your stock 225/60s. 255/50s are the widest you can get.
