Tire size option for STS---Question

Have been trying to find tires in local area for my STS....The size on vehicle is 235-55-17 98H....Local Goodyear dealer is out of the Triple Tread Assurance but advised me I could use the 225-55-17 size...Is this OK or a bad idea....
(The 235-55-17 is in short supply around here but 225-55-17 size
tires have a much more varied selection)...

225's are going to be just a little bit narrower. No big deal, it might look slightly different, but most people won't even notice.

Also about 3/4" smaller diameter.

May affect your speedo reading slightly. I dont think that little bit will screw with your computer.

If you have the 17" wheels... Go with 255/50/17's...

They are mostly all performance tires in that category.
I'm in NJ so I'm running High Perf All Seasons. Love this tire.
Hankook Ventus ST RH06. Comes with nice aggressive performance
tread design that throws water with superb handling.

One thing you need to watch on tires is LOAD!!! Your suggested "Thinner"
225 might not have the Load requirements you need for the heavy STS.
My tire suggestion supports over the Load recommendation, which leads
to nicer ride overall... Plus your getting a wider footprint, more tire on road!
There is NO Speedo difference either. AND CHECK THE PRICE!!
I know a dealer in the Central NJ area that mounts and balances on the
Hunter GSP9700 Load Balancing Machine. If you don't like them for some reason I'll buy em from ya! They look incredible on the vehicle as well.

These tires indicate they are for SUV market, but don't go by that.
They market to SUV because of load and size. My tire guy, who btw, can
have any tire he wants has these on his Mercedes.
