I'm taken the ls in for tinting today
My first ls was silver and looked good with just the small tint from the factory now I have the red one and think its best to tint hear in hot Atlanta any things I should be on the lookout for or make sure I tell the installer thks guys in advance

I don't think you need to tell any tint guys anything, just let them do what they do best, they know what they are doing!

Don't tell them anything as mentioned just be sure they're using the tint you want them to use. I'm in it for the privacy, looks, and then any solar energy rejection is icing on the cake. With that said I made sure they used color stable film so you don't have purple windows in a year or two. Not sure if this is the standard now or not but I've had windows done without it and wasn't a fan.

Also, get the ceramic tint. The metallic ruins your radio reception!

Got mine tinted yesterday too! Got 20 all around! :) $160 for the job and lifetime warranty. Heck of a deal. Also brought in my friends car so we got a little bit of a discount, maybe $20.

looks good!

Rules of tinting

1 never go to the cheapest place in town

2 get quality tint (kinda goes with rule #1)

3 dont tell them how to do their job unless you can do it better (then still dont tell them how to do it, just do it yourself)

4 dont roll your windows down for 3-6 days

5 dont use any window cleaner with ammonia in it, get stuff that says "tint safe".

I paid for my tint did one window to show my wife how to and she did the rest while I sat there drinkin beer watching her and she did an awesome job. No cut corners and no bubbles. 0602142157.jpg
not super black, just enough. I think I did 25%.

Not bad Antonio.

Window cleaner: 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water. More alcohol you use the quicker it evaporates. Can also double as wax stripper if I'm not mistaking.

6. attempt to park the rear window towards the sun and give the defrost lines a change to mold in over time.

What would you say if I was simply using mild dish detergent in lukewarm water?
have always been worried about ruining my tint and therefor just went with the above.

should be alright? seems alright.

Even a mild dish detergent can be pretty harsh, since it's designed to cut through burnt on grease. I'm not saying it will cause a problem, but I think a mixture of IPA and water or a tint-safe cleaner is safer.

Hmmm, thanks! I'll look into some specific tint-safe cleaner this upcoming cleaning season then. Might as well be safe with it.

The place that did my tint cut around my rear brake light in the window. They said it was a liability to take apart the light, and it was too close to the window to get behind it. If I could go back, I would take off that light first because I hate how it looks.

EDIT: nvm, I see you already got it done

yeah that does suck, when I had my 1st gen done, I already had it taken apart for them befor I took it in.

Target carries a brand called "Sprayway". Finding an AMMONIA FREE cleaner is found on most shelves anymore. Most of 'em have a nicer scent too than Windex and general household cleaners for glass.
