These tint law are so ambiguous, anyone in Jersey have any tips, concrete answers, etc.?
I have been seriously considering tint for awhile now, but I'd hate to spend $250 only to have to remove it come inspection time.
My main concern is the rules for the front driver and passenger side windows, apparently the law stipulates nothing can be legally applied to these windows, but my friend's Nissan Murano came with those windows tinted -albiet lightly- right out of the factory. What the hell? *bangs head on desk in front of frightened co-workers*

its a big pain in the balls... i've got tint on my mark viii here in NJ and i get stopped alot, i usually manage to get out of it... but those inspection traps they liek to pop up around here are noo good. the dmv does these roadside inspection post. you pull through and they right you tickets for whatever isnt perfect on your car. NJ sucks:mad:

I've had mine tinted for close to a year now and i have never had any problems. I don't know what i'm gonna do when it comes time for inspections though.

damn. i'm from long island ny and have never been pulled over for tint or anything lke that. my dad only has a rear licesne plate on his viper and rumblebee truck, no front plates and never had any problems. suffolk county cops don't really bother us too much about the little :q:q:q:q unless they don't like you.

i just got 20% all around. i'll post if i ever get a problem.

yeah I know, I'm wondering whether I should get 20% in the back, and maybe 35% in the front (try and pass for factory shade).
my inspection isn't until sept., so should I wait until right after inspection, get 20% all around and enjoy it while it lasts?
Or get the back done professionally, and get the cheapo tint off ebay and do the front myself, knowing the likilhood that i'll have to remove it? lol

potencial license plate--- "NOTADLR"

pba cards and police stickers on your windshield can sometimes help :)

worked for me to get me out of some serious :q:q:q:q for going 90 in a 40 :D

I am just curious why you thought no one would know where the Garden State is?

Dear Dereck,
It was just that the title "Tint laws in New Jersey" didn't do it for me, and I thought some of our international members may not be aware of some nicknames we have for our states.
I can see that I severely underestimated your capabilites in that area, you'll be well prepared for the test next thursday

I would definitely wait until after inspection. If you can still pass legally (and much cheaper) then just wait until after that. I have 20% on the front and 15% on the back and have never had a problem. I had to drive 2 hours back and forth to school everyweekend on the parkway too and even passed a number of cops while speeding but yet I have still never been pulled over.

thanks for the advice mergner26, that's prob what i'll end up doing. September seems like a long way off but I'd rather wait, get it done once, done right, and done how I want it - and upgrade other parts while I wait! haha
Mine's 01 silver too, so maybe they'll think it's you speeding by with tint on the parkway and let me go :)
