timing chain

Don't know if LS pistons are susceptible to this, but I've actually had the bottom of the oil ring lip break when a valve stuck. No noticeable damage on the top of the piston (that I can remember).
Noticed soon afterward when the oil ring tried to sneak out and destroyed the bore.

so i got the call back about how much my car was gonna be to be done at AAMCO was roughly 8,000 bucks for a rebuilt engine with all new gaskets, spark plugs and everything else i would need so idk what im gonna do like im gonna look around for someone to put an engine in for me cuz i dont relly wanna mess around with doing an engine swap myself.... if i cant find someone... i love my ls very much but i will be parting the whole car out if i dont fix it :( ...

Sorry to hear the news greatness. That's about the same price for an engine swap that I got from a few people 7 months ago. And that's IF they could find a used engine with less than 50k. The closest I found was 62k or I could have paid $5,000 for an Auto Zone block ! Haha

Wow way too much.

For 8 grand you can buy a 2003 LS V8.

8k is insane. You can buy a built(for use in high HP vehicles) long block for the twin turbo noble for almost half that(about $4500). You should find a used engine and ask around for prices on installing it, keeping in mind towing costs.

Ask AMMCO how much to install a used engine if you supply the engine.

Sorry for your troubles. How many miles you have anyway?

Why would it be 8grand? The V6 is just a duratec.

doesnt make sense to me.

The top end of the 00-02 LS v6 is specific to only the LS as far as I can find. This is do to the non-VVT and direct-acting mechanical buckets. Next closest thing is probably the noble engine(but I'd have to see one to know for sure).

Wow, thats a lot. Sucks man.

I had a real hard time finding a replacemnt V6 for my 2000 LS. The Gen 1 engines are rare and pricey. The Gen 2 engines are cheap and plentifull.

I just checked Carparts and there are tons of engines for 1000 dollars. There is one with 24K for 900!!!! 250 to ship and you have great engine for 1150.
