well guys after 145k miles on my 04 LS8 sport i have to start replacing alot of stuff but i cant complain other than replacing 3 coils (replace them all with visteons) and the degas bottle for the first 130k thats the only issues i had with my car. after 130k i had to replace the whole cooling system radiator and all, DCCV and a tranny rebuild. now i have leaky gaskets so im going to order a new set of coils with plugs and gasket off ebay (have you guys noticed that visteon coils is harder to get now on ebay, i may go for those dragon fires ones you know red makes the car go faster lol), has any one ever used the dragon fire ones, also i need to replace all my shocks and struts according to the dealer the front ones are good but i need new bushings for the swaybar so im getting energy bushings for those. the rear needs to be replaced since i bottom out when hitting bumbs so i am going to do all 4 corners. my question has any one purchansed from www.carpartswholesale.com the have the motorcraft ones for $90 but i cant recognize the part number OEM# : 3W43-18080-BG, With Special Suspension any assistance is appricieated also do you guys think i should shange the springs also if so where can i get them all i have found is the eibachs lowering and to me the LS is already too low plus im riding on 20"

the motorcraft shocks are no longer available on carwholsale.com i guess i need to go to rockauto.com for this. let me do some searches and see what part numbers i need for both the front and rear.

My first thoughts upon opening your thread:

Bring plenty of patience to the garage when doing the suspension. Also, while in there just do everything at once. My brother(Hawk03) replaced everything except for the front lower control arms. It was quite the process, all in all it took about 4 weekends. That was because we would replace one component hoping that would solve the issues, then another, then another, then another. Just get it all out of the way once, if you can. Plus, have plenty of PB Blaster, a sawzall, and a torch handy. Those will make it all better too.

i found this on the internet what do you guys thing of it. im traying to find a suspension kit that has the struts/shocks, springs, mounts in it. i found this.
http://www.strutmasters.com/Lincoln-LS-Suspension-Replacement-Kit-p/-linc-ls-f2-r1.htm

"Our Lincoln LS Four Wheel Suspension Conversion Kit converts your problem manual hydraulic air suspension to a dependable and cost saving coil over strut suspension."

Those look sick. I have been having alot of problems with my air suspension lately so I should probably upgrade to these too.

i gutted all my bags last year and went to COILOVERS!!! greatest move ever!!

English teacher dies might be the funniest post of the day

16 switches is the way to go. Forget bags and coilovers....A trunk full of batteries and pumps is what I thing you need.

Just for Fun

Well guys, after 145k miles on my 04 LS8 sport, I need to start replacing alot of items. I can't complain though, other than replacing 3 coils (replaced them all with visteons) and the degas bottle for the first 130k, those are the only issues i've had with my car. Now, I have leaky gaskets, so i'm going to order a new set of coils (with plugs) and gaskets off ebay . Have you guys noticed that visteon coils is harder to get now on ebay? I may go for those "dragon fires" .... you know the "red ones that make the car go faster lol. Has any one ever used the dragon fire ones? Also, I need to replace all my shocks and struts according to the dealer. The front ones are good, but I need new bushings for the swaybar, so im getting energy bushings for those. The rear needs to be replaced because I bottom out when hitting bumbs, so I am going to do all 4 corners.

My question is, has any one purchansed from www.carpartswholesale.com ? They have the motorcraft ones for $90, but i don't recognize the part number OEM# : 3W43-18080-BG

With Special Suspension any assistance is appreciated. Do you guys think I should change the springs? If so, where can i get them? All I have found is the eibachs lowering Springs, and to me, the LS is already too low, plus im riding on 20"s.

I like it when people correct spelling to.....just kidding...too. I especially hate when people say libary instead of library. Thats like nails on a chalk board to me.

As long as you are going to do that, get it right. It's air springs that the LS doesn't have.

I understand, and actually if that's what you want, its the kit for you. It does give a tighter ride.

Thanks for the quick reply, another question is does this setup offer a sport feel or a standard luxurious feel. Basically I don't want my car to feel like a towncar but more like a mustang/BMW.

Awesome i was looking for some answers for shock and struts replacement on my ls as well i also own a 2004 ls 3.9l sports, and did you purchase these replacement coil over shocks?

Because I need to replace hold assembly so i saw these, thinking of buying it.

Let know what you think of them.

I just replaced all my shocks with the 2002 Jag 'S' type ones. Awesome ride but you do need front springs if you go this route. Strutmasters may sell the whole package tho. If you've got money to burn, the STANCE Coilovers are wicked.

I checked out the Stance coilover they are amazing looking and design, now that will look great on my LS for sure. I just sent them an email if they make Coilovers for my LS and see what they come back with. I will keep you posted.

Also thank you for the option of coilovers.

If anyone is getting rid of their front OEM shocks that were more or less fine let me know. I need to send my front Stance shocks back to be rebuilt but don't want to buy a new set of fronts to do that. I'd rather slap some decent used ones on for a couple weeks. If you got the rears too I'll take those but rears usually last forever since the fronts take all the abuse. :)
