thudding over bumps?

When driving my suspension emits a hollow thudding sound, even over the smallest cracks and potholes. Now bear in mind my car has 167K miles on it, and I'm not certain about the previous owners upkeep on such things.

I remember reading a post about someone mentioning the bushings on the control arms or ball joints. Does anyone have any experience in dealing with this issue.

I am not a mechanic, so I was just wondering what other people might have paid when they took it to a mechanic for a problem such as this. I have a ballpark figure of about $400 for bushings, and maybe some used ball joints (if that is the case) but add labor and it could be a $1000 job, not sure.

So in a nutshell do you think this fix could be a low/high $400/$900 job or a low/high $1000/$2000 job

Try this solution it starts at $30 for the Energy Suspension bushings.

chances are it's the sway bar bushings and those are no more than 30 bucks. Might need sway bar links also and I believe those are around 50-60 each.

Really i paid 45 for the Moog brand i would've paid 30 for the lincoln oem brand

True and $40 is a great price for the MOOGs. However I couldn't find them for less than $50 a piece. Plus I figured the OEMs lasted at least 75k (for me) they'll last longer than I plan on owning it.
