why does it feel like I'm steping on the clutch pedal instead,is there a way to make the gas pedal softer? the reason is i drive home and to work one hour each way and WTF my foot is killing I'm stumped.

The cables is probably fraying. It could snap at anytime. Best to replace before you are left stranded. You could try lubricating the cable, but that may only hide the problem.
