this one takes the cake, best mark viii listing ever!

yeah...that was just wrong....although if it had the mustang front end it would be like the late 80's el camino's that had a camaro front end.

The ETC Mark VIII debate ends when the Mark VIII owner does a few mods and the Cadi owner is left with none....

We'll see in a few years when I finish my ETC's RWD/LS1/T56 conversion. Then we can have a modular vs LSx debate! :p That project is on the furthest back burner that there is, though.

They're factory ratings, so they don't mean too much, but my Mark VIII is rated at 280, my ETC is rated at 300. IIRC from my time on cadillacowners I would usually see L37 (the 300hp N*) dyno around 235whp - the 4T80e is said to lose about 24%, so that's pretty close. They do have 3.71 gearing and a bit more aggressive first (2.96 vs 2.84,) but they also shift at 6500, and the stall 'seems' even lower (maybe ~300-400rpm) than that of the 4R70w... As for stock vs stock acceleration, the ETC does have an advantage - but if I only cared about stock I wouldn't own a Mark VIII...

Most accurate comparison between a Mark and Caddy. Congrats. All the info you posted is dead on. Gearing, everything.:Beer

My HP rating is 290 thank you very much...

Yep, I did say "my" Mark, after all. But with that 10 extra HP, you'd think Gen 2s would be faster than Gen 1s. :N

Well, I do have one of each, so I'd hope I know what I'm talking about. It sure proves I spend too much time on these types of forums :p

I would bet $20 that if you strapped a brand new Mark VIII from every year on the Dyno that the base model 93 would have more HP than a 98 LSC....
