Two bad coils. Third time this has happen in six years. Repairs under warranty. Not costing me anything. I did ask the dealer what Lincoln is doing about the coils going bad. They said they would look into it and see if Lincoln will warranty the new coils. Hopefully Lincoln will warrnty the new ones. My warranty runs out new year.

why is it that the coils go bad on these cars, could it be the coils them selfs that are just a poor manufactured product? Somebody better look into this b/c I just had to replace 2 bad coils and 2 bad plugs gone bad b/c of the coils, and its not a cheap fix and go type of thing either.

It's been discussed on here many times. Nobody at Ford is going to look into anything aside from the 10 year/100k extended factory coverage for early model 2003s, so either deal with it or buy something else.

I've had mine for 3 weeks, just had #6 replaced and I nuked another one on the way home from Denver. Not sure if it's the same one or not because I haven't had a chance to put my scanner on it yet. I still have some ESP left on it so back to the Ford dealer it goes.... Service manager said he'd do what he could to make it right without me having to pay another deductable.

It's all good though... I knew about the coils going in and when I drove the car for the first time I decided I was willing to deal with it. Wish I would have been a little luckier though. The first one started acting up on the way home from buying it from a private party.

I'm thinking about carrying a "coil kit". A fresh coil, a boot, a spark plug, some dielectric, and the required tools in a small box in the trunk.
