Thermostat ?

Cost at Team Ford Parts is about $14 for the V6 and $15 for the V8 plus shipping, probably about the same from Five Star Ford.

Genuine Ford part not an inexpensive aftermarket with questionable quality.

I believe the newer Ford thermostats are designed to fail open not closed if there is a failure.

$25 is the cost of the after market part.

That still doesn't explain why the damn thing costs so much. Does it have an alarm or something?

Quit yur whining. $25 isn't that bad when you consider other brand cars or even some older Ford models. I had an 89 SHO, the Thermostat on that cost me $38 aftermarket back in 1991, probably way more now.

Most foreign makes cost about 2x what a US brand part does in my experience.

My Chebby 350 cost about $25 back in 2001 if I recall.

The plain Jane Stant type thermostats probably cost in the teens but the newer engines seem to require a bit more complicated part.

The LS engine is somewhat exotic and probably low production volume so parts are going to cost more than your every day Crown Vic parts.

I am learning to dislike "exotic engines due to the parts issue.

Good Luck, and it could be worse, try BMW parts
