I just finished replacing all the coils plugs and valve cover gaskets. Just put in the new sway bar in the front and added new tie rods. feels like the day I got her. Now just new shocks and struts and an alignment tomorrow and im all good.

so when you bought your car the shocks struts and alignment were all bad? should of got that taken car of before signing anything. just messin around. yea it feels so good to have you car running like it should, after being f*cked up for a period of time.

Yea It was misfiring for awhile so i let it sit in the driveway for about 3 months and decided it was time to fix it up or just sell it. On the ride there I noticed a vibration that wasn't there before and it was the left outer tie rod. Just more money thrown at the Ls.

always seems to be a wave of problems in a rather short time span, i seriously emptied my savings (about 3,000) into getting this car to run like it should in about a 3 month time span, not too fun especially when i had a baby on the way during the same time and was trying to save as much as i could. haha oh well everything is good now,

What's your year and mileage?

I just took my 02' with 65,341 mi, to the shop for my check engine light and they said my #3,5,6 coils were defective and i might as well get them all done because the others would wear out by about 70K. I also need to replace valve cover gaskets. Its a dealership, all this woulda been coverd with my ESP warrenty for $100, but the engine light and problems didnt start until 300 miles after the warrany milage was reached. GO figure. They wanna charge me $770 to replace the 3 broken ones and the gaskets or $1160 for all of them and the gaskets. Im trying to see how much other people paid, It a coincedence that u just posted this yesterday. Do you mind tellin me How much did pay for your coils and gaskets?

pics of the new M3 yet? I think it was you who said you were buying an M3...

I got my coils from a local shop for 200 for all 6. The Gasket was about 70 and the spark plugs were 9 apiece. And I was charged 325 for the install but I also know the guy who owns the shop. And I will get you pics of the M3 Im just getting over back surgery and going in for another one. The M3 pics not a concern right now.

Is this it?

I was told much the same thing for my daughters car..coils plus the whole shot..I did the job myself and it took me all day..next time I will be able to do it in under 4 hrs ( this time I will use the wiper arm remover first)..to make a long story short..the only problem was that the spark plugs were worn out (way to big of a gap)..even though ford would say that the plugs are designed to last longer..the truth of it is, that the plug gap is to large already at 45K..the lincolns have had always a very strong current fireing the plugs which tend to wear faster when comparing to other auto makes
..my cost list..coolant (in my case the green color) $10, thermostat and pressure cap $30, intake gaskets from parts quest (victor/rein brand) $10, valve cover gasket kit from PQuest $75 (victor), 6 new motorcraft coils, ebay (alenisdeal) $150..Denso Double PlatinuPlugs from Rockauto.com around $40 ..wiper ARM remover or battery terminal remover, at 'O'reillys, $10, 8 & 9mm long 3/8's socket $10 ..total of $325..(fortunately I have a good INCH/lb torque wrench)....a lot of work to change out the plugs...the 6 coils were not needed but I put the new ones in under the intake manifold and tested ALL the old coils on the drivers side and all the old ones were good..I could not make the car "miss" after the new plugs..another point I would like to make is.. that no "blanket" statement concerning the coils can be made without first testing them..sometime ago a TSB came out stateing that 50% of the coils removed that were thought to be bad were in fact OK plus the procedure for testing the coil

$3000 .. i think thats about average with the LS haha it adds up

Comment on testing coils above. Can you post a link to this info or tell us briefly what it takes?
