I'm most likely under a month before I am ready to buy my LS. CANT WAIT!! But anyway, you all have been amazing at teaching me about this car. I have a much better idea of what to look for while I am out there. I WILL be getting a 2006, the financier of my 'loan' wont allow me to get anything else plus it sounds like the year to get anyway (He doesnt really want me to get a LS in the first place, but thats my damn choice).

So, any final advice? What sort of things should I be listening/looking/feeling for on a 2006 LS? The solenoid problems had been fixed by that year yes? Any random advice you can think of? Thanks everyone
 
My LS was 6 years old when I bought it and you too are about to buy a 6 year old car. Do your diligence as you should with any used car. Have a good mechanic who can look it over if you are not able to do so in depth yourself?
 
Probably nothing more than what you have already researched and asked about. Do you have any lined up? I've noticed quite a few the last time I checked in the SE Michigan area. Don't be afraid to travel to find one though.
 
Yeah, I do. Do I just take the car out for a test than take it over to my mechanic? lol. I've never bought a car before, I'm a bit foreign to how it all works.
 
Yeah, I've been checking through out the area. Dont really wanna go any farther than Pittsburgh or Indiana. Some of the good ones have sold recently though. There was one in Ohio with 53k for 12.9 that I'm sure I could have haggled to 12
 
Also, leave a little spending money for up front maintenance to start your maintenance schedule if one hasn't been kept.
 
Lol, just remembered my buddies sister works at Roush Performance. Ill see if she can come with me to check the car out
 
Hard to go wrong with an 06. I'd push down on all 4 corners just to make sure you dont hear any unpleasant creaks or thumps from the suspension. While you're test driving the car take it on the frreeway so you can make sure it's driving well at high speeds and do so with no music or distractions so you can listen closely for suspension problems or engine sound that shouldn't be there.

As jmtiseo said set a little money aside for maintenance things like plastic cooling system parts/coils/transmission and diff. flush etc/ depending on mileage/maintenance prior to purchasing. Also remember that these cars arent Honda Civics and are relatively unknown to most car buyers so you should have some room for beating the price down.

Lol yeah... Once I figured out I was getting this car loan I pretty much picked out the car I wanted immediately, even though it was going to be months before I got my deposit together lol. Let's just say no one has ever accused me of under preparing before :rolleyes:
 
Don't worry I did the same thing. I joined this forum and was posting here many months before purchasing my LS. Tomorrow, April 18, marks exactly 3 years of me owning my LS.

Congrats on the soon purchase!

Is there a way to tell if the LS has HIDs or not? I'm not quite sure what I would look for to tell. I mean, I can always install them later, but I would rather get them already in
 
Also, is the stability control (advancetrac?) worth trying to get? I've heard it applies brake pressure to keep you 'in line' right?

HIDs will have a shield over the bulb. Also if you pop the hood, there will be rectangle yellow stickers warning of high voltage on the top of each light.

I wouldn't say it is "worth" it, but in the case of actually losing control of the vehicle for some bizarre reason, I am sure I would think otherwise. You can always turn it off and drive like a douche (peeling out on corners etc) if you want.

Hmm, good thinking. I'll probably try to get it. I used to drive a RWD car and it wasnt too bad (didnt have any sort of TC at all), but it would still be nice to have it just in case here in MI

I only use my TC on the highways. Putsin' around town I doubt you'll have it on when it gets bad, as there were times this past winter that I got stuck...going down hill in town. You won't be able to move with TC on and a decent amount of the heavy stuff.

And don't worry about OEM HID, I may have an extra set shortly. :)

Yeah, I didn't seem to have too much difficulty in my old crown Vic but thought I would get some opinions. And sounds good. Hopefully the timing will be right for me to nab those from ya
 
I bought one passenger side today via eBay, through PayPal, if it's too good to be true I can at least get my money back for it. Seemed legit though no joke. Will post once I get it. Either going to refinish and resell or do a retrofit. It's all coming together for my angel eye install.
