Hmmm - Sarah lied?

By David Knowles

Sticking with the motor vehicle theme for a moment.

There's news out of Alaska about that Bridge to Nowhere, you know, the one that Sarah Palin was for building before it became a national disgrace. The money, as we now know, was not sent back to U.S. taxpayers, but kept by Palin's government. What did they do with it? Well, part of it was spent to build the road to the bridge to nowhere. And now that road is finished.

From the Associated Press:

JUNEAU, Alaska - Alaska now has a Road to Nowhere going to what would have been the Bridge to Nowhere.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's transportation department completed a $25 million gravel road leading to the site of the bridge that Palin, as John McCain's vice presidential candidate, now boasts that she stopped so as to save taxpayers money. The road was built with federal tax dollars.

If you're scratching your head about now, and asking, what purpose will this new $25 million dollar gravel road serve if it doesn't link up with the fabled bridge, here's your answer:

Ketchikan Mayor Bob Weinstein said the 3.2 mie road will be useful for road races, hunters and possible future development. But with no bridge to serve it, that's probably about it.

"I think it will be good for recreational things like a 5K and a 10K," Weinstein said. "And instead of people walking through brush, it may be used for hunting in the area."
Ah, good. I'm glad $25 million of our federal tax dollars didn't go to support some useless earmark pork. Cue the Talking Heads.

They are ALL crooks & liars! With that said I will still be voting for McCain & Palin, It would be a cold day in hell before I would vote for Terrorist Obama.

Just watch all of the political ads on TV. They all lie & stretch the truth so it will fit their needs. We got the two worse canidates, oh well.

Congrats - cell phones have taken the place of lighters - even in rock concerts - it is great!

Instead of the "gotcha" politics, since we all now agree that the bridge was a bad investment for the government-
which of the Presidential candidates involved in the race has historically and consistently voted against them? Who has been very hawkish when it comes to government spending? Who has NOT slipped any ear marks into Senate bills despite his prominence in the party?

For the record, Obama has requested about $750 MILLION in earmarks over the past three years.

McCain has not requested any in his entire time in the Senate. Even the lunatic left can only find two examples of spending even associated with him, one for a University ($10M) and another to buy land to put a buffer zone around a military base ($14M).

Yeah, but she lied. IM not complaining about earmarks - they all do that. Im more concerned that she lied about it while trying to use it for political gain.

Typical. Accused Bush of lying about Iraq. Wasn't true. Accuses Palin of lying. Isn't true. Ignores the many Obama lies.

Naive.

AP says she lied - not me.

Where are all those WMD again? Nah, bush wasnt wrong about anything.

It was going to connect the 'bridge' that didn't get built with the town.

"Sarah Palin's transportation department completed a $25 million gravel road .... The road was built with federal tax dollars. "

It gives me great pleasure to realize that every penny you'll ever pay in federal income taxes went to build that gravel road to nowhere. Can't tell you how happy that makes me feel.:D

Very likely gone to Syria in the documented convoys, as we came from the other direction. Or perhaps destroyed by Saddam after he gassed thousands of Kurds. He was heard to say, "Oh, :q:q:q:q---that poison gas worked so well, I guess I'll never make any of that again!" (But he kept thousands of the artillery shells to deliver it with.)

Documented convoys? I'd imagine the quick destruction of massive amounts of chemical/biologics would leave some trail, no?

He never claimed to have never used chemical weapons, he did say he was going along with the sanctions though.

According to Sara Palin's people the contract was signed before she was in office and the money could only be spent on this road.
So the road was built.
I dont think she lied....could she have ended it ? I don't know.
Its far from a gravel road.
