Various claims and products were due down the line for the LS this is the official thread of products that no showed and a chance for any of their "creators" to defend their claims or update us with their progress

I'll start:
Underdrive pulleys
Cold air box for gen 1
Roof spoiler
Electric supercharger for v6
Aftermarket coil covers

It's pretty typical on car forums, not just here. There are those that have big dreams of doing this and doing that and never follow through either because they're incapable of doing it or lack the deep pockets that their big dreams require.

There is a saying I heard somewhere a few years ago that applies to sites like this - "tell me what you've done, not what you're gonna do" - or something to that effect.

I was talking about doing the taller coils covers. There might be some clearance issues with those though. I don't know if someone else had said they were going to make some, otherwise I only brought up the idea about a month ago.

I also wanted to make that air box for the gen1 but it sounds like a lot of people were talking about doing that one. Plus I am not about to start on something like that until I get my car running again.

You can add this to the list though:

retractable license plate holder

This I will be working on along side of all of my other projects. I could actually patent this and sell it. I already got a few of the parts I think I'll need and a few design ideas for the best ways to extend/retract the plate.

So add it to the list and we'll see if I can actually pull through with a working model at least.

Aftermarket sway bars
6spd manual swap kits

OK so I have been working on the COP covers. I'm waiting on a hsipment of the resin i need to make the actual part. There are clearance issues, but nothing too crazy that I dont think I can do it. If I can do it, it will be something I end making and selling. It requires more than a DIY can tackle.

As for a 6spd swap... I havent ever said I would have kit, maybe someone else has. Some minor reasearch has indicated it MAY be possible to do a swap, but I havent made the power to need it yet, so it can wait. While it would be nice to have a stick, I dont see the 5r55 needing replacement with anything that has been done to date. I've seen a stang with the 5r55 make a 9 sec pass, and after talking to him and his wife in the pits, he's made numerous passes like such. And noone has posted up their 9 second LS yet.

yeah, thats the reason behind most of the things done for these cars. I wont use COP covers, I'm just doing them to prove to myself I can. I'll make and sell them custom ordered with peoples names or what have you once I get this figured out. I'm going to have to use the stock gaskets though, but no biggy there. Install sheet to be shipped with each order. Honestly this is more of a practice my custom fab skills so I can do things I would use... like a custom Fuze box cover, engine cover etc. I've never done custom fab with plastic and this is actually pretty fun. You can do damn near anything you want. Just need to figure out the molding and such.

Fabrication seperates the racers from the posers.... nothing aftermarket (ok a few things do fit perfectly) fits like factory. Not saying its not possible, just I can't call Kiesler Engineering and get a kit in a box.

um...don't they already make one? not vehicle specific but.....

Yeah I googled it after talking about doing it. There are some generic ones out there and some ones that people had made themselves, but none like the one in my head. I saw a few that you retract by hand and one with a remote. I was going to have mine be controlled by a switch because I think a remote is a little excessive plus those cost at least $160. I was hoping to make a sealed unit that is electrically controlled for a sale price of around $100.

Hey Sully where are you learning to do this stuff? Just by reading and trial and error? Or did you take some kind of class?

Most of the plastics that are easily worked at home have a pretty low heat tollerance. Remember you are working on a hot engine.

I think that he means for the front bumper. To hide the ugly front plate, so the car looks cleaner in front.

soooo.... what your saying is you wanna run em?

Ahh, you get that from that.....I guess.

You get some track time in yet this year? I only ran once. Need some DRs or something. Trying to guess what day they are going to prep the track doesn't work well.
