The guy on ebay that sells d/s mirrors for cheap

There's a guy on ebay that sells just a standard mirror cut to fit the driver side of a Gen II Mark VIII. It's not electrochromatic, but after having one leak out, I'd rather have a normal mirror anyway. They've served me just fine in all my other cars.

However, these don't come with backing plates - is this difficult to swap out? Anyone done it?
