Is the LS sequential or batch fire? I'd expect some air/fuel mix to be in the intake for a batch fire system, maybe a tiny bit for a sequential.
Not sure what it would take to get a backfire into the intake..... One would assume that if it was because it was lean, then there wouldn't be enough suspended gas to explode. Or, maybe a minor wiring fault caused a crossfire?
Or, the wife is tired of driving the car, so she poured a gallon of gas into the intake?
Or, my favorite, "rag in the intake".
