It seems like my Mark VIII lost some power the other day, I was driving, and all the sudden I lost a lot of power--It runs, but like its fowling out, or missing on a cylinder. I brought it in to a mechanic I just met, (New to the area, my sources are limited) he changed the spark plugs, and it is still doing it. He said the wires looked fine, and so now I am wondering if it could be a vacuum line? Any help from you all would be great! THanks a TON!!

any check engine light? still could be wires, just because they 'look' good doesn't mean they are-you could use an inductive timing light to see if they are all firing, and that'd tell you if you might have a coil pack problem too. I had that once in my 93, it came and went when i finally found it made all the difference in the world. The back plugs can collect water around the plugs and can cause a miss. or a bad boot might cause a problem.
It doesn't sound like a vacum leak, you'd probably have a higher idle, hear it hissing-if it's a dead miss, you might have valve/compression problems-eliminate ignition problems first. Good luck.

Ls Crosse? Hey Rich, what ya doing this weekend! :D We should make a road trip to LAX!

Anyway, the wires *can* cause this. The coil packs *can* cause this. But for $12 you can get a vacuum gauge and test that first to rule it out.

Also, try getting a full tank of good gas - Shell premium.

I've been chatting with him in the PMs. We'll be working something out soon.

I have a set of 94 coil packs if he needs them.

As always you are welcome to come help out!

top priority, (my mark did it too)

1.) Change the fuel filter (a must)

2.) if that doesn't help, then it might be the transmission, change the fluid and filter 2-3 times, and it should clear it up.

3.) if 1 or 2 doesn't help, beats me then.

Good one, could be the fuel filter. For that matter, the fuel pump.

Dont think its the trans though at this point though.

A vacuum and fuel pressure test would be first on the list I think. Always need to listen to the patient breathe and see if it has a pulse :D

Thanks all! I just put in a fresh tank of gas, I was wondering if KwikTrip did me in...Not sure. I put a can of STP Gas Treatment in, didnt help. No check engine lights--
