Temperature swings

04 V8...Driving to a meeting today, I hit a little traffic and turned on my OBD app and saw my temp up at 219-223.


Then on the way home, temp stayed under 207. I didn’t hit any traffic but even when I got off the freeway and stopped, the temp stayed low.


What might cause jumps in temperature like that? Whole cooling system has been replaced and properly bled. It’s not overheating, just getting hotter than it seems like it should.


Maybe a sticky thermostat? Something with the DCCV? Fan?

Did you replace the thermostat / housing with the whole cooling system? If you did, is your thermostat motocraft or after market?

Depending on the exact conditions, that could be normal.
