tc leak

Hey guys, a couple months ago I changed my 1-2 accumulator and switched to mercon v. Ever since then I have a small puddle of trans fluid leaking from the inspection cover on the bellhousing. At first I thought I might have a little fluid left in the bellhousing from when I drained the TC. I dried it out on 4 seperate occasions. Still leaks. Then I thought maybe the drain plug wasn't tight enough. Still leaks. I'm confused now. What could it be? No leaks prior to the fluid change. Also, is there supposed to be a gasket on the TC drain plug? Any help would be great. Thanks

Maybe it's just the dipstick tube o-ring?

maybe, but if it was leaking, wouldn't it leak fluid all over the pan? All thats wet is the very bottom of the bellhousing. After the car sits for a few minutes, its starts to puddle on the ground. But everything else is dry. Strange

Front seal? I hope not. Pump seal? I hope not too (or are they the same! lol)

Do this. Spray some stuff, like simple green, all over the TC. Spray up in there well. Start it up for a second and repeat. Etc. After you think everything is coated well, spray with water to clean out the cleaner.

Trans fluid likes to hand around, even a little in there can slowly drip down over time making seem like a leak. I have this problem, did the above and it "stopped". So it *may* just be residual. Otherwise its sounds like the pump seal or TC plug may be bad.

Thats all I can suggest!

Have you checked the fluid level? Wondering if it might just be slightly over full.

Unlikely, but worth a shot.

Almost every mark that I've seen will leak from the same place at one point or another. Seems to be after a refill as well. It might be a tad over filled. Mine does the same thing, If I let it drip for a while it will stop when it's about 3/4 of a quart low.
