taurus motor swap

OMG.. That doesn't even look like an LS
That's not an LS engine bay--the shock towers are too far back in the compartment and they're too far apart. Somebody attached the wrong picture...

already went on that site just wanted to know if the 02 v6 will go in the car without changing the intake?

i remember reading that they changed something in the valve train one of the years... not sure if that really matters?

IIRC, the only thing they changed in '02 was the airbox. In '03 they changed the valvetrain (adding variable cam timing).

BTW, if the Taurus and LS use the same blocks and heads, the difference is in the con rods. The LS uses con rods that are formed (can't recall if they're cast or forged) as a single piece, then "broken" to form the end caps. It's some special Cosworth process, at least according to the sales literature.

Those are called "Powdered metal" Rod. Lots of Fords use this style rod. Not the strongest but there in a gazillion engines.

They are easier and cheaper to make this way. Rod if formed and finish machined as a one piece unit, the cap is split, and the big end finish honed. You end up with a cap that will only ever fit one rod though, so if you tear and engine apart, KEEP THE CAPS WITH THE RODS!!! They are a biatch to sort out later.

Not sure if this is still an open info topic or if TC has made up his mind but check out this auction:

Get the engine the car was MADE for. :)

Hey man, I'm still thinking of buying those and keeping one around for a test-fit mule and spare! :P
