Ok so lately I got this tapping from under the intake manifold/tb area.

No cel, no stall, nothing else out of the ordinary at all really.

Any idea of what it may be?

Kind of sounds like a older car that needs its valves adjusted.

Oil level checks in but I am a bit past due on oil change this time around:shifty:

The noise sounds more to be on the passenger under the manifold.

2000 V8

Any clue on what could have caused it to come loose?

Need more info please

Knocking from low octane gas? Wrong oil weight? Loose timing belt, rocker arm adjustment, stuck thingy at the end of the rocker arm shaft? can't remember its name. Seafoam may loosen things up, clean out old engine. :D

Sorry,... thats about all the info I have.

I hear a taping from under the intake manifold on the passenger side.

I never use anything other than premium gas and never go out of what is called for by fomoco on oil. I use seafoam and love it, didnt help me with this.

rocker arm adjustment,
No rocker arms on the LS. It uses direct tappets right smack under the cam lobes.

Is the sound coming from the front, rear, middle of the engine?

Timing belt could get loose by stretching (common issue in Saab V6s). Or a worn tensioner allowing too much deflection causing it to smack against the side of the timing cover or block.

Its to the back on the passenger sides, like I said right under the intake manifold area.

The sounds is faint enough to where I could tell if it was coming from anywhere else. If I listen in any other area it gets more faint. The closer I get to the spot I mentioned the more it can be heard. It is not that faint I guess, I could hear it a bit with the hood closed. But it is louder at that spot.

I too have the same sound :( You can hear it standing outside car and outside the car it just sounds like a car that is running not very tightly, and it's similar to quiet rocks kicking around IMO sound seems too come from under the intake on passenger side. :|

Get a long screwdriver. Place the driver end of it on the engine where you think the sound is coming from, then press your ear to the other end and you can hear what the engine is doing. Prod around with it like that until you get that sound to be the loudest.

My guess is a fuel injector clicking.

Maybe the sound of a fuel injector clicking, if it were a 100x's the size and was full of rocks! Haha.

I will try the screwdriver though. good idea.

Stuck Tappet???????????????

I had this before in an older car, we used to take off the valve cover and give the thing a good wack with a rubber hammer to loosen it up.

I gotta take it apart, cars sitting till spring cause its damn cold out.

The mother F*ckers at the dealership of course say its nothing at all, its just the intake making noise more apparent. They did keep my car for a few hours and want my money for diagnosis. F*ck them! I know they didn't even look at anything or drive it cause it came out with the same amount of millage and I marked a bolt with a dab of red paint from a paint marker cause these pricks cant ever be trusted now that warranty is up. Aside from that the car still sat in the same spot I left it at.

It does it at idle and I don't really think it gets worst if I give it gas. I gotta go out and check on that again today. Sounds like a freaking Volvo!:shifty: just not as loud.

I only like once ran bad gas . I had kept up with all recommended services including the 60K mile service and I'm at 89K

Well I am beyond curious... When I get a chance I will inspect mine further. It's just irritating so I am not going to tear down my top end though.

If you do find the solution, let me know and post up! :)

like previously mentioned my bets on a noisy fuel injector, they can get extremely loud when things build up on the pentles, you will be able to feel the injector pulse if its clogging up, you should just bearly be able to hear/feel them when they are functioning normally

I had my system cleaned at 60k and I try to keep up with sea foam and all since I know gas got bad with the escalating prices.

What do you mean by pulse? I do have a funny idle while in park.

I got a half of a tank of gas left in it and wouldn't you know when I went to fire it up last night after a few minutes it stalled on me then wouldn't turn over and eventually acted like the battery was drained. It seems like its my battery though and later today when things slow down Im gunna go out and check that cause I have been having battery issues for a while so that might be unrelated.

.

Hmmm.. I also have a weird idle. It seems to choke on itself occasionally and take deeper breaths. :| Only noticeable in park really, just a little rougher in drive.

Dont really choke just surges, might also be battery related.

Yours sounds most likely to be IAC related or on a whim a dirty filter.

When it cut out on me it was kinda like it ran out of gas-KIND OF-at first cause it just shut down but had full power but after a few attempts to turn it back over it did that battery drain tick and all.

IAC is likely for me, I smacked it around a bit but really haven't done anything. I don't want to go chasing ghosts and cause more problems. If that makes sense, and yes sounds like you most def need a new battery. Group 42 I suppose, European size, European price.

The thing with the battery is weird and is pissing me off big time. I went through a few.

I recently got a FOMOCO replaced and got one from NTB. I used the NTB battery and eventually it started acting up so I went back to the replacement fomoco battery and now its like when I try to jump it it wont run but it acts as if it has full power until I hold the key over for a few seconds. Then its tick, tick, tick, tick so I know its battery drain and not starter. But, when I take the key out the alarm sounds but at full. Usually it sounds all funny when this happened in the past. Also my clock and everything dont reset!
