I am planing on taking out the engine of my 96 mark over thankgiving. ford says that you should drop it out of the bottum. but i have heard it is easyer taking it out of the top. witch way is better? i will be doing this in a 2 car garage so out of the bottum is not ideal. any ideas?

If you have the room it is easier to drop it.....but since I do not I have taken it out thru the hood.....it is not that difficult to do this way either.

ive always wonderd this as well.

also are there books to buy that give detailed instructions?

to me it seems like i would lose sight of all the tubes and wires and forget where some go

I have the tech manual (bible) for the car, but it give you the directions to remove it from under the car.

I have removed the first gen motor thru the hood at least 20 times in the past few years, if you ever need help I can help....maybe not in person (dependin on how close someone is) but over the phone, or internet....have done it a few times already, so not a problem for me to do it again.

You do not have to, but since all the coolant will be drained and you have to take off the fan/fan housing you might as well. It is much safer that way so you do not damage/break the rad.
