it it possable to seperate the clear plactic lens of of the white part ona gen 1 . if so how?

Not so sure...

I Don't believe it is. I recently cut my lens open with a dremel and refinished the inside of it. Looks great, looks just as good as my high beam. There's a thread named "that metal thing in the headlights" and Turborich actually has pics of what he did. Invest the 40 or 50 bucks in getting all of the supplies and cut them open, it'll be worth it. I haven't done my other one yet but once I do I'll post the pics, they look great.

There's no need to cut it.

Put the headlight housing in the oven.

I've done this, and it's safe.

200 degrees (hotter at your own risk) for 10-15 minutes will enough to loosen the glue without damaging the plastic. Grab some gloves and pull pieces apart while they're still hot.

When you're ready to re-assemble it, some Goop adhesive will work. If you ever need to take it apart again, the Goop will loosen at 150 degrees.

It'll be easier to reassemble this way than cutting it up.

BTW, when you glue the lens back on, be sure to use something to hold the pieces together tight. The Goop may try to force the pieces apart as it hardens.

I used duct tape, and wrapped it so that the parts were held together very firmly.

Remember to use the sealant around the entire area where the parts mate, so you won't need to worry about annoying leaks on rainy days.

Will do. I'm a little annoyed now that I sawwed my first one open. I might have to buy a beat up one on ebay and restore it myself. I used 3M foil tape for the replacement on the coating, I used super glue for adhesive on it. I hope it doesnt melt and peel off, those stock bulbs burn really hot.

Anyone know if the corners can be opened via heat? I always wondered if I could take that yellow lens out.
