i took the back taillight ballast out for replacement and now the trunk will not close, i can close the latch with a screwdriver and unlock it with the button but it wont close when i lower the lid? i hooked the ballast back up and it still does not work.

Slam it harder... lol

Ummm.... did you slam it one with the latch closed by accident and bent it?

My friend did that to his Stang, took me about 5 tries to bend it back to where it needed to be.

i hooked the ballast back up and it still does not work..

if I remember correctly when the ballast shorts out it smokes a fuse.
I cant remember what fuse number it is though, sorry.

Try hitting it with wd40, or checking around for a blockage, because removing the neon light does not affect the trunk lock in any way.

it was not closing for some reason hit it with some lighter wd40 cured that right up, does wd40 disolve grease or something?

Yes it dissolves grease it is a penetrating oil. I would get some white lithium and lube it up.

Known as "the can with thousands of uses," WD-40 protects metal from rust and corrosion, penetrates stuck parts, displaces moisture, and lubricates just about anything. WD-40 is also great when it comes to cleaning grease, grime, and other marks from most surfaces.
