Back in the day, I used to own a 2000 Lexus LS400 and you could put the tail lights in the oven, pull them apart and use a heat gun to loosen the film on the tail lights and make them clear. Mainly the middle strip of the tail light. Well I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it worked the same way?

If I'm not mistaken, the tail lights are molded in the color that they come in. I don't think there is a "film" inside the tail light. The reason I know this is that I cracked one of the deck lid light assemblies once and it was a red molded part.

It's cheaper to just mold the part in the color they want, unless it's a single part with 2 different colors. Maybe this was the case with you Lexus?

Yes, this tail light in the middle strip had orange signals, red for the normal and clear for the reverse lights. Pics...
