Pursuing unanswered questions.

Never having had either front or rear sway bars in hand, so asking questions of those of you who have.
1. The front bar, from illustrations, has a 'kick' in the middle. From the illustrations in the shop manual, there seems to be no clear reason for this. Is there anything anyone has seen, as installed, that necessitates this 'kick'?
2. The rear, again from illustrations, seems to be straight in the middle area. From your observations, is this correct?

Any light that anyone can shed on these suppositions would be much appreciated.

Reason for the questions is the possibility of substituting three piece race bars. Such things are readily available in a wide variety of configurations. But the center sections, the parts that actually flex, are straight. If straight pieces can be, somehow, substituted, this can be made to work. Thanks in advance for any input.

I bought a complete front suspension from 66 coupe. I brought it home and dropped it in the garage and haven't paid much attention to it beyond a quick once-over. Since the engine isn't mounted, I'm not sure yet as to why the little kick section is in the front. And I haven't done a comprehensive study of the aftermarket bars either. But I do know that ADDCO and others will custom-make bars. So I know that significant upgrades are possible when I get to that point.
