I'm removing the a/c compressor from the mark viii and the rear bottom bolt for the compressor is blocked by the front way bar. I'm wondering if I can remove the bolts for the sway bar and move it forward about an inch to access the bolt is it possible? Is it safe to remove the sway bar when the car is on ramps? and is there any possible damage and will i even get any leverage from the sway bar after unbolting it?

i have pulled down the compressor before. its no where near the sway bar.

Depends if the wheels are on ramps or wheels hanging for how far the bar is away. I don't recall which is which but whatever you have it on now, do the other and the bar should move away from it...

So I don't have to unbolt the sway bar just put it on jacks? Thanks for the help. BTW I'm talking about the ac compressor not the air ride compressor.

(iirc!?!) If it's on ramps (ride height basically,) then the sway bar will be further away from the ac compressor. If the wheels are hanging then it's closer...
Or try jacking it up on the on side more...

LMAO, yea i though you where talking about the air ride compressor. that makes sense!

sorry for the confusion.

IMO, after looking I was going to do this also and put the car on stands. Marking off the sway bar and loosening it a bit (or taking it completely off) you need to make sure you have a 32mm socket and a paint pen to mark them so you don't need to re-align if you decide to do this. If you didn't post up so I know. :D
