I have a question? If my ballpoints were still sealed with no boot damage would it still be possible for them creak and squeak over bumps? I've got a noise I just can't get rid of!

personally, i have never liker how most ballpoints feel, you can never beat a quality felt pen like a sharpie :shifty:

I have to agree that pall point or sharpies should not make unplesant noises.

Balljoints not ballpoints should be greased so they don't squeak or creak. Moog balljoints come with a zert fitting so you can grease them, OEM balljoints don't have a zerk fitting. The swaybar links front & rear, have thte same problem. You can try spraying the rubber on the balljoints, swaybar links & swaybar brackets to see if the noise goes away.

I would also look at your control arm bushings on your upper and lower control arms. They tend to wear over time as well causing a loud creak when driving. Ball joints will give you more of a clunk, like something is loose if they are bad.

I have 2 used lower control arms from my old Ls. I may try and install those get a new alignment and se what happens. This sound is getting to be like nails on a chalk board to me!

By lowering your car you put the suspension in different position. This may have intensified an existing problem.

Jack up the front your car and put a 4' 2x4 under the tire. Have some one lift up and down on the 2x4 while you watch the upper and lower ball joint for play. Also inspect the upper and lower control arm bushings for play. While doing this you may even hear the noise you are looking for.

I've had everything from ball joints (lower) to lower control arm bushings to sway bar end links to rear toe links make lovely metal on metal squeaks.

Make a video.

Yes they can creek or squeak even with good boots. My '03 has Moog ball joints and they don't have any grease fittings.

I am considering using a needle greaser to get some grease in them and then dabbing some silicone on the hole I made. Is this a bad idea?
