Okay i was always a 5.0 guy and i am trying to get a little more knowledgeable of the 4.6 I know a decent amount but not the mark setup. As far as a blower why does it pretty much have to be a vortech why the hell cant i mount up a procharger or kenne bell or somethin?
 
Theres a guy floatin around with a twin screw kenne bell. 500+ at the rear tires, I will try to dig up some pictures.

my question would be .. how much work and what exactly would you have to do to the engine itself for it to handle the charger... i believe the pistons are only rated to 450 hp...

would you have to do a complete rebuild of all internals.. or just a few parts
 
What nice pics of my car, thanks greenlinc. What you are looking at is the cost of almost a new Mustang. That is part of the reason most don't do it. When you step to that level almost everything in the drive train gets touched and tweaked. Here is a link to the final dyno run, and before I put the 18" wheels on.

PS: Currently it is only pullied to 13lbs, the unit is capable of up to 22lbs, but at anything higher than where it's at now will require race fuel, methanol injection, and a higher output ignition system, and more electrical and program work. I am happy where it is at now so there is no need for me to take it further.
 
Well, the parts bill only was over $17,000, almost 1/2 of which was for the KB Tuner kit. I felt that the prices I paid were competitive, but I could have been mistaken. Also I went with the newer "C" stlye heads, with a complete forged motor, rebuilt tranny, new torque convertor along with new drive shaft, and posi rear end. That didn't include the cost of the Kook's headers and 3" SS exhaust sytem. If I had it to do all over again I would not know what I would do any different.

Have you ran it? What was your time? Lets say the motor trans rear etc was already done. What did the blower wind up costing? Kit and all?
 
I have not run it at the track yet, I'll try to next season as I want to go when Lidio will be around so we can play with tune on race fuel and more boost. It should be around a 11 sec car now, and I would like to think it could possibly get in to upper 10's , but the car really wasn't built (caged) to do that, and I won't do it. If you need to know more about costs re-read my first sentence above and also go to the KB website.

Do you have any other videos other then the dyno? ID just like to hear her whine. Call me a bitch but ill smile for fifteen minutes and keep dreamin about the day i bless mine with a blower
 
I just wanted to go wit the 03/04 cobra setup, its a litttle cheaper on the parts and it will make all the power I would want. If your lucky you can find old eatons with low low miles on them on ebay($200/$1200), the other parts are a bit harder to find but they are out there
 
Is there enough information on supercharging Mark VIIIs for someone(s) to complile all the information into a thread for Sticky? Its really confusing to read all these conflicting threads on supercharging.

Roadbosses car up there is a work of art, but his is somewhat above and beyond what most would want to do.

I have no plans on supercharging the Mark anytime soon, but Ive read every thread I could find on here and Im quite certain it doesnt need to cost $10,000. With a mustang you can have a road-ready, and safe, supercharged setup for around $5000. Mark Viiis generally require more modification, but the question is how much more?

If its possible, I think it would a good idea to have a compiled thread comparing different supercharger setups, their pros and cons, costs, necessary modifications, and wether they will fit under the stock hood.
It would make a good addition to the Mark VIII high performance section of the forums.
 
It could be done under $10K no problem but you'll have to do most of the parts install by yourself.Here is my brothers Supercharged 98LSC ,there is around $7-8K invested in this car including forged bottom end but all the work was done by him and me. Only things done on his car by a speed shop was .020 over on the block and dyno tuning.
