Sunroof does not close all the way

My son's 2004 Escalade's sunroof does not close all the way. It stops about 4 inches from "shut". It did this last year and we pulled the battery cable for a bit and after reconnect it worked. This technique doesn't work now. We pulled the rear TV off the ceiling to give a little viewing area. Where do we start?

Have you checked to see if something is broken and blocking the track? Does it make any unusual noises when closing as far as it does? Something might be stuck in the gears.

Son reports no unusual noise. It stops at the same spot every time. Does this motor/circuit use current draw to determine when to shut off? I pulled a schematic so maybe that will help.

Fixed this last year with a simple battery power pull/ computer reset.
