Ok, so Ive my LS for over 5 years now. Thought I new everything about it. But I dont know if I now have a fault, or a new feature lol.

It's still been in the 90's here, so everyday as I'm leaving work, I role down all the windows as i'm walking to the car (holding down the unlock for anyone new to the LS). Been doing this for years, no problem. Now after I get in, and start the car, The sunroof automatically closes!!! Am i missing something, or do I have a failing switch (or worse). I thought maybe a failing door lock sensor, as if i had turned the key in the door to lock (holding the key in the door cylinder to lock will roll up your windows and sunroof to anyone new to the LS). but the windows dont move, just the sunroof...

Let me know what you think, Its actually kinda nice, but hate for there to be a problem with the car though....

What am I missing!

I'm having almost same symptoms but my is rear window, every time i turn on my headlight the windows goes down i haven have time to check the problem any suggestions,

Weird.
On gen I, two wires from the REM connect to the sunroof to communicate global open, global close, and when to allow it to move via the switch (power and retained accessory power). If the two wires are treated as logic signals, that gives four possible states, inactive, powered, global close, and global open.
I wonder if one of the connections has failed such that "powered" now looks like "global close"?

I did have a bad tube on the passenger side... are there any connections over there?

On gen II, the sunroof wiring runs behind the C pillar trim on the passenger side. There is an in-line connector there that it goes through. I don't know if gen I is the same.

oh yeah I should it tell you same thing when u ask me those too many questions......

Well, the thing is... Your symptoms are not "almost the same symptoms."

His: Sunroof closes when ignition key is turned on.
Yours: Rear window or windows (you are not clear on this) open when you turn the headlights on.

Do some tests, please.
Will it roll down if the parking lights are turned on instead of the headlights?
If so, will it still roll down if the instrument lights are dimmed all the way down to off (dimmer wheel by light switch) before you turn the lights on?

yes even with the parking lights it rolls down, but i try to turn on my lights with the dimmer all the way down and they dont roll down they start to roll down when the dimmer is about half way.

Okay, this they thing is confusing me. Is it just one window, or more than one?

If just one, then I think that there is a short between the instrument illumination and the down wire from the down button for the right rear window. This short could be in the window switch, the wiring between the switch and the FEM, or in the FEM itself. Has your window switch assembly been messed with?

One more test. Does it do it with the window lock set to locked?
If so, then the window switch assembly on the driver's door is suspect.
If not, then the window switch on the rear left door is suspect.

thank you, i have an extra window switch i will change it to see if that is the problem.

the window lock is what is being saving my window to roll down. with the window on lock is fine it stays close all the time.

Okay then. Check the window switch on the rear door. If you unplug that switch and the problem stops, you've found it.

G, I may or may not have had this happen earlier this week. Rolled 'em all down via driver door got in and left them down. Got on the highway and rolled the windows up and to my surprise the phantom moon roof was already shut. I don't recall closing it myself. But Gen. II vs Gen. I.

Are you sure it opened? My sunroof does not always open when I use the remote. (All the other windows always open.)

Ill mess around with it some more and see if I can get some different results.

I do know it only slides back if the sunroof is completely closed... if its partly open or vented. The remote will not do anything

It was done with the key in the door. I'm sure it opened as I'm bothered to have to wait for the moon roof to open completely while the windows are down in an instant. I probably just forgot that I closed it but will check the next time it's open.
