Suggestions for 18s

So me and my fellow car buddies discussed over wheels today and it came into mind instead of going 19s and 20s for the LS (loosing performance) to go with 18s......I have a perferct wheels I would go with if I had 18s but my question to you guys is what would be a good width for performance based 18s. Go ahead and give critisism since I'm constantly talking about different wheels and sizes every so often. But since I want my wheels to be performance oriented I'd like to hear some helpful advice :-D I thought of 18x8.5 since I was originally going to get 19x8.5s. My wheels are currently the stock 16x7 alloys.

You really want 8.5's front and back? I would think only a 7.5 or 8 max in front... more of a performance look anyways I think. Kinda like to old muscle car look, fat wheels in back for more power on the road, while having the smaller more agile wheels in front for turning ya know?

I don't really think you'll lose performance going with 19"s as long as you choose the right rim. There are a few performance cars out now with big rims from the factory.

Just thought I'd ask...cause I would love to have 19x8.5s but still unsure of the offset I should get..... I've been going back and forth so many times just didnt' know how much performance I'd loose going more than 18 on the Lincoln.

or I might get 19x8 since some of the wheels I want don't have 8.5 width.

Whats wrong with that? Muscle cars really didn't race on street courses they dragged. Thats why you see that staggered combo. 8.5 is a great size up front for turning.

Re-Pete, the lowest you should go is +38 with out stretching tires and I have been thinking about 18's for a while but my wheels are still mint so I doubt I'll go down that road til I have to.

I say do it. Go with a 18x8.5 +38 et.

mine are 18x8.5 +38 offset with a 245/40 tire, my opinion, looks and feels great.

If you plan on lowering your car, you do not want 38mm offset wheels. 42 and higher at a minimum. If you're just going to leave the car at stock height and Photoshop your drop, then 38 offset wheels are perfectly fine.

I have 19x8.5s all around with a 46mm offset.

Actually I got Eibachs in back in october. But i'll check on offsets.
