OK all of you LS officionados, I have been around here for about a month, and I have seen some of your rides, and I like what I see, so that gives most all of you allot of credibility with me.
So, would some of you comment on the opics here?
I am interested in opinions on the billit style license plate frames, where the front license is now, and the buttons I painted to finish the holes. Also, for those performance people, will the location of the front plate cause any cooling problems? I dont think so, as the original mounting covered 2/3's of the lower grill to begin with.
BTW, the LSE trim is new...:D

Well, the billet license plate frame is a bit much on the front in my opinion, and I don't like where you have it positioned. The ideal situation, of course, would be to run without a front plate, but if you have to use one, I would rather see you use the stock Lincoln mounting bracket and an a thin plain chrome frame on the back and front.

I got mine from Auto Attire:

At $25 each, they're not cheap, but I can say that I've had mine since 2003 and it looks as good as new.

So that's my opinion on your plates, which doesn't mean diddly. The question is if you like it or not. Your car looks great otherwise.

I like the front plate down there! But I don't care for the frame.

Thanks for the input. The frames looked good off the car, but I am not satisfied with them on the car. I would rather not run a plate, but I got pulled over recently in my truck, running without a front plate, so I am a little hesitant.
I will re-think the frames...maybe they'd look good on a Chrystler 300...

Agree with Todd on the plate frames.

I moved my plate down there also (I used a couple of "J" hooks to secure the top), but run without it. As it's just a fix-it-ticket I keep the plate in the trunk and can install it in short order if need be.

Car looks great! Keep modding!! I also put in two L brackets under the front bumper and secured them in with washers and nuts by drilling two small holes with a dremel under the bumper cover. In IL I should have a plate as well but put one on when need be.

Look close at my front bumper, there are two dots visible which are the small bolts attached to the L bracket which is painted black. I use stainless wing nuts to hold the plate to the bracket so it can be taken off on the fly.

02V8Sport,
I've seen your car on here before, and I like it allot. If I had the $$$, I would like to get the sport front bumper cover, but alas...
Anyway, I like the idea of a quick add, or quick remove of the front license...hmmmm...in the mean time, I think the frames are gone...

Thank you, I didnt have the cash to do all this at once either. Took me about 9 months to do all the mods to this car. I want to trade it, but then think of all the stuff I put into it.

Well, I plan on keeping mine for awhile, so...I will keep pumping the cash into it, until my wife threatens divorce...then I will stop. This is my first new ride in over 11 years, and I am totally pumped to make it as nice as I can, and still stay married...
I have the eibach's in the trunk, and all of the tools lined up, just have to find the right helper, and the time.

Dont trade it! You know you love the LS. But, if you ever do remember ive got first dibs on those wheels... :shifty:

Nice color! I too like the location of the plate. It is out of the way of the actual bumper. The only thing now is the holes it left behind.

02V8Sport, can you send me some pictures of what you did for the bottom? If I need to put my plate back on, I want it there instead of on the bumper. And don't trade it in... It seems like you just got it.

jg, I'll get better close up pics of the license plate mounts tonight after work.

I dont like the problems associated with these cars, but Ive already fixed most of them so Ill see how it goes.

Look real close at the pic's, and you will see the painted push-in retainer buttons. I had to do 4, as there were 4 holes left behind.
