Recently started getting that running out of gas type stutterHappens mostly at idle in drive at red lights. Also happens from time to time while accelerating. Within the last month Ive replaced the IAC, TPS, Air filter, fuel filter, ran seafoam. What else could be worng? I hooked up my code reader and its saying everythings OK.

Your plugs and wires or coil packs/coils maybe, since i dont know your year and milage its a shot in the dark. Typically it is indeed the IAC.

its a 93. Forgot to mention that i also replace the spark plugs within the last month as well. The plug wires and coil packs are the originals so i guess itd make sense that it could be them. If i had to replace one or the other, which should it be? Anything else it could be?

I would replace wires first, then coil packs. Could be the tranny fluid as well. Flush with brand new Mercon 5.

Fuel pump is my guess also.

Is the car pinging at all under load?
Any check engine lights coming on/off?

Yes, shouldve also mentioned that the Check Engine light has been going on an off constantly. Car has 170K miles.

If the check engine light is going on and off, does that mean its likely the fuel pump over plug wires or coils?

No. A flashing CE is usually due to a mis-fire. Get the codes, free at Autozone. Just dont let them sell ya anything til we get the codes :)

Thank you: get the codes don't let autzone tell you what's wrong they usually have dumb $hits working there and won't know what is wrong plus the Autozone Computers are Phucked up with wrong data on Lincoln Mark VIIIs.

But at least they can get you the codes..... Plus Autozone sells $hit product also.

Oh by the way I'm on a mission against Autozone if you can't tell. Long story, short history with Autozone then got screwed then got smart.

I love Autozone!!!! Where else can ANYONE feel so much smarter than the staff?

I have a code reader (bought from auto zone, lol). The code im getting is 111 which means everythings clear as far as I know. Fuel pump makes sense, 14 year old plug wires cant be helping either. Want to tackle the source of the hesitation problem first since im currently on a very limited budget for the car. Where do you think i should start?

Sorry but I think it is fuel pump replacement time for you.

If everything was clear, the light would not be flashing. I suggest checking again or using a different reader. Even when it stops flashing, the codes are stored for a while.

Something I can do myself with minimal tools and knowledge?
You certainly can find the info to do it on here or the other lincoln forums. You have to drop the tank to get at it so that scares most people away from doing-it-yourself but it can and is done by amateurs.;)

Without seeing the car and running some diagnostics I can't or shouldn't say fuel pump for sure but with 177,000 miles, replacing the pump (and fuel filter) can't hurt.

Thinking about bidding on a set of used cobra wires on ebay. Says theyre off a 98 Cobra and have only 18K on them. Obviously these would be an upgrade from mine with 170K on them but worth save 50-60 dollars more it would cost to buy new ones?

18k is enough time to bake then and make then brittle. I would just scoop up some MSD wires for $80 or so and know your safe. I know its not the cheapest, but you know where you stand with new.

Here in Houston, the Autozones Code checkers only support ODBI II. What shoud us 93 and 94 owners do with ODBI I? Who can check the codes?
