Stupid plastic plug things!

Actually, I'm the stupid one. So, the plastic plugs that hold on the assorted engine covers. I'm not sure of the proper name for them. I destroyed 8 of them before realizing that they can be removed by hand. Just in case anyone else wonders how this amazing engineering miracle can be done:

Find one of the plugs and notice there is a central part that is circular and sits flush with the top. Use 1 finger and push this center further into the plug. Now grab the outer ring and pull it out.

Sometimes the easiest things are the biggest pain in the a$$. Does anyone have some of those plugs they'd like to send me?
 
I bet any auto parts store would have some they'd like to sell you. I've messed up a few, and haven't got around to replacing them yet, but I have seen similar ones in Carquest and OReilly's. I just need to walk back out to my car and pull one to bring it in to match them up on eof these days.

because I am an idiot. In all of my past vehicles you had to just grab them and rip 'em out. So, I did the same thing. And, I've done it plenty of times. I just happened to be tooling around the other night and accidently figured it out.
 
Lowes

You can get replacements from the dealer or elsewhere for about $2.50 each or more!!!! Sometimes I see bags of 10 on ebay for about $25. Lowes has similar units you might have to shave to make work, but they are only 2 for $.89

I buy mine a Lowes. :D
 
I looked at oreilley / checkers a few weeks ago, I broke one of mine when I replaced my AC Filter and they had similar ones, but the center was larger than the OEM ones... They also were very rigid, kind of like some tool you use to rape somebody, and kill them at the same time... :(
 
Yeah the ones at the parts stores arent the same. I've yet to see non oem ones that are a perfect match. Don't feel bad though I did the same thing lol.

Try Advance Auto Parts...They'll open it up and let you try it out...or you can look over the engine bay and take some of the rest and place 'em all in a pattern like i did...Dot, Hole, Dot, Hole, Dot, Hole.......
 
I had already got a few replacements about 8 months ago when I was emptying the water out of my headlights. I've got a Ford mechanic friend. Hopefully he will be able to get me some OEMs
